I think I'm going to ask my church going, Kap hating family members how kneeling before the flag is disrespectful but kneeling before Jesus is not. I like to do these things at family gatherings- more bang for my buck- but may have to file it away for now.

The sentimental gush which white folks pour out when a police dog gets injured or killed in the line of duty really gets on the nerves of people of colour who are generally the targets of those dogs.

I know that a police dog is very well trained and will not hurt me unless his handler tells him to. The last 6 words are the problem there.

A huge irony now is - guess who in East Asia has the best opinion of Americans? That's right, the Vietnamese. They won and now they have no hard feelings. They never should have been America's enemies except for - first - the US propping up the faltering French colonial empire, and after that propping up the deeply corrupt and religiously-bigoted Diem regime and its successors.
