From the beautiful state of Nevada, we bring you the imaginative linguistic stylings of congressional candidate Cresent Hardy, a member of the state Assembly who would very much like to replace first-term Democrat Steven Horsford in the 4th District. On Tuesday, Hardy gave an interview to the
Heller and Amodei I expected - they're both staunchly in the Ted Cruz camp of whatever passes for the GOP these days.
Sandoval, I'm not as clear on. Yeah, he's done some red meat throwing on guns and taxes. But he also is siding with the Dem AG here to drop the defense of the state's constitutional ban on same-sex marriage, has started reinstating a lot of the deep cuts his predecessor made to state government, and is pushing harder to increase K-12 funding (not as much as the Legislature wants, but certainly a far cry from the "cut to the bone" Republican minority in Carson City).
What's astonishing is how completely accurate this is. The GOP has now reduced this to a formula:
Any attempt to prevent _______ actually creates ________.
And they are spewing Orwellian inversions with absolute sincerity and a straight face.
I have new respect for Orwell's perceptiveness. Unless, of course, this kind of gibberish was standard procedure in Stalin's USSR. In which case:
Any attempt by the GOP to express a policy position instantly creates a perfect irony.
"By continuing to create these laws that are what I call segregation laws, it puts one class of a person over another. We are creating classes of people through these laws.”
He went on to say "Some men like to go to singles' bars to pick up women and others of us like to check out who's watching Dora the Explorer. "
Oh, yeah. This guy. He was a barrel of laughs at the last Legislative session, what with his big push to not only let people carry guns on college campuses and on school property (by neutering the Board of Regents and local school boards ability to ban it), but to change the law so that you could carry a concealed handgun without a permit.
The only other person I can think of named Crescent is Crescent Dragonwagon. I don't think this man is Neo-Pagan children's book author though.
Unbelievers have no class. They're classless.

Isn't this just SPECIAL RIGHTS for the religious?
As if they need more favors.
Red Rock Canyon, not far from Vegas, is something to see. But heck, Vegas is kind of fun. Just weird.
It looks pretty spectacular when you're flying over it.

Perhaps we should segregate based on IQ. If we did we would not have to deal with the wingnuts.

CRESENT ROLL!
"Cresent" sounds kinda muslin-y, don't it?
A state suitable for above-ground nuclear tests and below-ground nuclear waste disposal.
The laws against discrimination actually create segregation? What the fuck Christian academy did he go to?
Or maybe "I'm a Lucky Duckie!"
