I never thought I'd say this, but compared to today's crop of Republicans, W was (almost) a genius. And if you haven't seen his paintings of wounded veterans, please do. He learned to paint when he was 70 years old, and he has TALENT. He realized he knew nothing about art, so he took an online art history class. Then he realized there was a painter in him trying to get out. So he hired a painting teacher. I have great admiration for the fact that he was willing to go way outside his comfort zone and learn--and excel at--something new. And his book of portraits is, I think, one way that he's trying to expiate his sins. Plus, all profits from the book go to aid veterans.
