It's the same reason I'll never visit Cabot Cove, Maine: I've seen on the teevee that I'll most likely get murdilized there and the Jessica Fletcher will have to solve the mystery.

Au contraire, mon ami. I believe it was the comfy CHAIR.

No they didn't. They had perfectly willing "sources," like Curveball, that told them everything they wanted to hear voluntarily. The torture started in Afghanistan and Gitmo but had nothing to do with the made-up justification for the Iraq war.

That's really weird! Torture always works just fine when I use it.

They put the old lady in the comfy chair (with only a break for tea and biscuits at 4), and when this failed to break her, escalated to poking her with the soft cushions. ;-)

People will think these are sex workers.

Yeah, you think all of the people who were punished severly for commiting these acts would have been enough to sway popular opin...oh wait.

So let's all give a hand to Obama for his decision to inadvertently (and that's giving him the benefit of the doubt) give torture bipartisan legitimization!

And on a related note:http://www.commondreams.org...

The "it's just a show" defense only works when not just when people are aware of tv being "unreal" but how it isn't real, as well as the truth of the matter. On legal procedure and government dramas particularly, people assume that the shows are carefully and accurately researched and gone over with (supposedly) "unbiased" consultants (often the same band of liars that made the rounds on the news shows justifying these barbaric acts) and that the "fake" part is just names, dates and faces (especially since these type of shows love to dramatize "ripped-from-the-headlines" events).

On this point, could Obama simply undo St Ronnie the forgetful's order and re-instate the fairness doctrine? Seriously. Could he?, which leads to why wouldn't he? Please President Blackula! Please! Just do it.

One of you two needs to come in again.

What do you suppose they would be trying to find out so urgently?

WHAT DID YOU DO WITH THE VENTURE CAPITAL MONEY?! WHERE IS THE BIRFCERTIFICATE!!? WHERE ARE MY MAIL ORDER STEAKS!? TALK, DAMMIT!!

If torture really worked, Ted Cruz would be a lot farther ahead in the polls.

Did they also poll these Americans to see how many of them regularly eat food with their asses?

Could be a significant overlap.

The lesson I learned is that we put too much stock in opinion polls.

False.
