Tom Cotton, voted Most Likely to be Fragged By His Own Men.

What's up with that brontosaurus-necked freak, anyway?

And yet, all the tissue-sharing and group hugs from fellow conservatives won’t bring Rubenstein the peace of mind, acceptance or self-esteem he covets. Because what all these wingers want is to prove that the REAL deplorables are liberals rejecting innocent conservatives. It’s the same old “cancel culture” nonsense. During #metoo, victims of terrible men (mostly) were empowered to come forward and seek affirmation or even justice. But the bigots and abusers and those aspiring to be either or both were outraged that the mere loss of reputation and respect due to their actions would cause them to lose jobs, money, relationships. “Cancel culture” was born. It may have preceded #metoo, but that’s when I noticed it most. Yes, racism and sexism and abuse are bad, but the REAL victims are those who are judged. Shame on you for judging terrible people. And shame on the NYT for judging Rubenstein for liking Christian Chicken. The real shame is for liking that salty fried crap regardless of the gay hate.

Tom Cotton and those like him are dangerous people. Look at this little pencil neck’s boner fantasy about the military punishing his imaginary enemies…”let's see how tough these Antifa terrorists are when they're facing off with the 101st Airborne Division.” Very bravery. Much macho. As usual, wingnuts like Cotton have it backwards. It’s right wingers who violently fought Capitol Police, and it’s their base the FBI is carefully monitoring to prevent more violence. Antifa is a straw boogeyman. Clean your own house, Tommy.

I don't know if it's growing cynical as I grow older or the times, but, when someone on the left says, "Yes, he/she told me about that the day after it happened," I believe them, but, when someone on the right says the same thing, like Bari Weiss, I assume their lying.

I read the Atlantic story & The New York Times was just being its usual mealy mouthed self when things got hot. It likes to do its reactionary stuff quietly & gets quite upset when called out. Boo hoo for right-wing dude who got thrown under the bus.

And you just know that all those conservatives at the Times just HATED all of the awards Ms. Jones has won because she reported on subject matter that those conservatives do not want to think about.

"I WAS CANCELED!" he writes in big, bold letters in a national news publication.

In addition to the story being absolute and obvious bullshit, why did the Atlantic find it necessary to publish this bitchy, self-serving nonsense about something that happened ALMOST 4 YEARS AGO that he is pathetically still mad about? Where is the news value in this? Seen some disappointing stuff coming out of the Atlantic recently and this is another one on the shit pile.

And he wasn't cancelled as the paper did not fire him nor ask him to resign. He chose to resign some time later because he decided he did not have a future at the paper due to the incident. Did he have a bunch of colleagues not like him because of his involvement? Sure but I bet that happens all the time at newspapers and other places. I bet he wrote this because he is looking for work and wants a sympathy hire from some conservative outlet.

Is no one questioning the "Super Heebster"? When I was growing up, calling a Jewish person a Heeb was an insult or did I misunderstand that?

It is a slur. The Russ family is Jewish. It was originally called the "Super Heeb," and was supposedly named after a satirical Jewish newspaper called "The Heeb." Kind of an inside joke, since until Martha Stewart mentioned how much she loved the place most, if not all, patrons of Russ and Daughters were Jewish. The story goes that after the delivery became semi-famous the owner changed the name to distance it from the publication and because potential new customers might not get the joke.
