As someone who ran against cis-boys in cross country (because girls "can't run distance"), was the only girl in shop classes (because "girls can't handle power tools"), was the only female lifting weights among a ton of dudes... all this hysteria about trans girls is absolutely stupid. ALSO, sports scholarships to college (which shouldn't be a thing) exist mainly for sportsball these days (unless you are a future Olympian in track and field). PS. Kudos to Ms Feldman who sounds like her head is screwed on and her morals in place.

I doubt anyone in my family is trans, certainly nobody closer than 1st cousin once removed. (though there's at least one demigendered.) I am also a parent of a (cis) kid who enjoys soccer. Right now she's in a coed town league, playing other 8 & 9yos of any old gender. This does not bother me or her. She may join the more formal soccer in high school, when she would be on a girls' team. I do not care if she ever plays against a transgirl then, either. (at this stage, I doubt my entlings have even thought about it.) I do know she holds her own in fisticuffs with her brother, 2.5 years older and currently half a foot taller. (getting less frequent, thankfully, but still.)
I think anyone who thinks male in sports thinks NFL linemen. Not true as a former Maine state athlete, all state and all New England soccer player, McDonalds star all star in basketball, and an all star in softball. I loved playing against the boys especially in basketball. I could out run, out jump and out play 9/10. Now if I were playing football against a linemen I would probably lose. Not fair to judge anybody without more context- women aren’t automatically weak and men are not automatically strong. Also get a fucking life - there is a law in ME so STFU change it or deal with it . Stop whining about 2 people

Even the 12th grade linebackers aren't in the same class as the pros. (no pun intended). Shite, my dh (a high school swimmer) may've been tall, but I bet every girl on the girls' swim team could beat him in a race. His proudest moment was that one time he came in 2nd to last. Certainly every young woman who got onto our Uni's team could.

Having been a sub teacher in middle schools which admittedly is not my favorite demographic (gimme the kinders, they're so darn cute!) I can attest that regardless of their tendency to be arrogant assholes towards teachers, they tend to be much more accepting of each other... by "more" I mean than I experienced during my formative years. (I was short, skinny, afraid, and bullied). I see them stick up for each other far more than bagging on each other.
Weird how these people never bring up the case of that FTM high-school wrestler from a few years ago. He wanted to compete against boys but wasn't allowed to.
My observation of male sport is that the gold medalists are obsessed, sometimes to the point of obnoxiousness, and would not write the nice letter above but would loudly complain.
How is it that Democrats are branded as being obsessed with trans rights when all discussion is driven by the MAGA Right? Sell-out media reports two sides to every story: the MAGA version, and the Democratic position as described by MAGA.

I tend to consider these Right-wing hysterics over non-events like any kind of "sinful" behavior or anything frowned upon by so-called "polite society): If you don't like it, don't consume it or participate in it. But don't tell other people what they can and can't do. I also think of Dan Savage telling a studio audience about finally marrying his partner: "Sorry if that hurts your straight marriage."
