Also for those keeping track, the House wanted to pass their part of reconciliation before leaving for Memorial Day, which they plan to do on the 22nd (Senate's waiting til 23rd). One of the "rules" Johnson has to follow is 72 hours to read big bills. So effectively they have til the end of next week or Monday the 19th if they don't use the weekend as reading days (yes those can count) to get their shit together and thus far...shit is not getting together.
General combat lines are between ultra deficit hawks who will not accept ANYTHING that adds debt, and Republicans in blue states and swing districts trying not to fuck over their constituents so much they lose their seats. Primary arguments are over Medicaid, SALT taxes, increasing the military budget, and perhaps even letting parts of the tax cuts lapse to lower the price tag.
Part of the issue is people not being able to agree on what has been agreed on. Johnson claimed per capita caps on Medicaid spending and lowering govt. match rates were off the table, but the committee head in charge of Medicaid spending thought it was still up for debate. The SALT caucus claims they have gone backwards in negotiations from halfway there to not even a quarter of the way anymore. And so on. All while Freedumb Caucus rattles their sabers loudly about how willing they are to sink things.
I've been impressed by some reporters' restraint on that front. Also intrigued by how many Republican member seem VERY willing to leak on this. Many with their names on it. And after Mike let them vote on the Gulf Of America, too!
Bye bye Britain as ally. Can't blame 'em. No doubt because reporters have been bugging him about trade deals and one of his sycophants said "He is too making deals" on TV.
But Trump's the "shopkeeper." Trump has gone so far around the bend we can't find him, I wish.
We have a site, and then one of our partners sprung some additions on an earlier project that need to be finished yesterday. They are just additions of like 10 holes here, 5 holes there, something that a single person should handle because 2 would be cross purposes for sure.
So I thought hey, let us split up, coworker supe, I will take the boring additions, you finish the cool site. And it was good.
Mind, the boring assed additions are about 100 holes. About 3 days of work for me, give or take. Supe had about 40 total, but you are slower when you are actually finding stuff (cause the paperwork alone) so I figured she'd be finished yesterday.
But no, she was not finished yesterday. She had 20 something holes yesterday morning, and still had 14 by the end of the day. No big, surely you will finish tomorrow I said. Then she was like This is more important than what you are doing, you need to drop the additions and come help me finish. 14 holes.
I can do 14 holes in 2 hours, even with the added paperwork. BUT FINE, she wants the help, I am helpy. Said I, ok we'll go finish and then hit up those additions (which will be annoying, but ah well) and she is all We got all next week to do those! And I am all...then why at the beginning of this week were you all breathing down my neck about it?
idk, I am generally super easy going (unless technology is not doing what it is supposed to be doing) but the constant we have to do this right now!!!!!!! is starting to irritate.

These are the professionals. They know what to ask and when, and buy and sell for maximum profit. It's the retail MAGA idiots who are basically giving the scammers their money.
Colbert has decided in honor of world news services staring VERY intently at the Vatican chimney, the Late Show will sometimes check in with the Ed Sullivan Theater's chimney to see what is being cooked next door. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VzQ1Lk_6IsU
I've started recording Steve, watch his monologue, and skip the rest. Why? Every day I wonder what he and his writers can possibly say and be funny after the day's events.
Yeah I watch the monologue on their YouTube channel. And Rescue Dog Rescue if they have a segment (Stephen and a guest get dogs adopted by outrageously lying about their qualities. 100% success rate thus far, tho some senior dogs took extra work).
My sweet first dog, Shasta, adopted at five, lived to 15 until cancer defeated her.
I still tear up when I think of her.
My second dog, Molly, I adopted right before the pandemic took off. I was a volunteer at the local Humane Society, went in to walk dogs, and Molly was one of four who hadn't been fostered out because they were closing the building.
Speaking of Trump's glassy eyes, he just CANNOT LET GO of his tariff fantasy. How hard can it be to figure out Americans will pay the tariffs for out of U.S. made products? I saw some guy on TV say he thinks other countries will just say "Screw you, Trump" and go on about their business. And Trump posted on X we don't need Canadian lumber! Doesn't one person on his staff say "You're completely wrong and embarrassing yourself?" I guess as long as Trump goes after immigrants, MAGAS won't lose faith. PAYING other countries to house the "murderers and rapists?" Okay rant over.
Well, if he gets his wish of cutting down all the trees in the national forests....
Unfortunately, we will need their saw mills cause we ain't got enough of our own. Which means all those trees he hereby ordered cut down will sit and rot.
Speaking of lumber, it will kill the housing market, which is lousy anyway, I tried to be a realtor for a while and sucked at it, but I do know that. My condo in Atlanta has doubled in value, that's how bad things are already. Can't move because I wouldn't have anywhere to live because prices, but I could borrow against the equity (I won't ). Should add it's a '84 building that needs a lot of work.
It's like, oh, you want to talk money? Trump has lost two 60 million dollar jets in the Red Sea i the past week. We've shuttered tons of labs developing new, ground breaking medicines. We're going to fuck DC's streets with tanks in about a month for 90 million or more even tho WE LEARNED NOT TO DO THAT AFTER THE GULF WAR! You wanna talk "do not work"? That motherfucker won't stop golfing!
Yes but as several reporters (actual reporters) have noted, we're in a weird place where the president seems VERY happy to answer "I don't know" to the majority of questions. Firstly, in his first term, he'd NEVER admit he didn't know and would have word-salad-speeched his way out of it. Second, it means we are facing two very dangerous choices:
1) Trump is being informed but is so far gone he doesn't remember even basic policy ideas
2) The agency heads are NOT INFORMING HIM and just doing what they want with no oversight because he's so far gone they can get away with it
"We like pressure on the system. We need pressure on the system. Because that pentesting forces you to ask questions like, 'Does the software work? How does it work? How does it manage ethical concerns? How does it manage data protection? How does it manage output?'" But this is not a software system, dope.
Well, our piece of shit MAGA Governor here in OK vetoed a bill that would allow the OSBI to work with tribal police to address and solve the disproportionate violence against native women because it "favors a race". I don't even know what to say. What a shitty time it has become. How far back will we go?
HARRISBURG, Pa. (AP) โ Democratic Sen. John Fetterman of Pennsylvania was meeting last week with representatives from a teachers union in his home state when things quickly devolved.
Before long, Fetterman began repeating himself, shouting and questioning why โeverybody is mad at me,โ โwhy does everyone hate me, what did I ever doโ and slamming his hands on a desk, according to one person who was briefed on what occurred.
As the meeting deteriorated, a staff member moved to end it and ushered the visitors into the hallway, where she broke down crying. The staffer was comforted by the teachers who were themselves rattled by Fettermanโs behavior, according to a second person who was briefed separately on the meeting
I saw cuts of Trurmp's presser with the Canadian PM yesterday, Trump's eyes were all glassy and he was making even less sense than usual. Is his brain damage, dementia, early Alzheimer's or whatever becoming more obvious?
Internet slang contraction for "All of them, Katie," a play on the phrase eventually spoken by then-Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, after a very long pause, in answer to a question posed by then-CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric regarding what newspapers and magazines Palin had read before being named as the 2008 GOP Vice Presidential nominee.
I would say it is beyond early at this stage. He was having early dementia back in his first term
Though it has been amusing, and also infuriating, to watch the right twist themselves into knots to make him be "right" about every blub that comes out of his mouth. They have built their foundation on the sand of He Can Never Be Wrong, after all.
Think it goes beyond that even. We have seen evidence that without him, the base will turn on Republicans very very fast. He is a cult leader, and no one else they got has the same sway over the hatted masses. For example, how Linds got harassed at the airport for the crime of "not wanting to die by a fucking mob"
BUT we have also seen evidence that they will turn on HIM if he does something they do not like, like when he suggested some of the DACA kids should be able to stay waaayyy back in 17. They were howling for his blood and calling him Judas until he reversed that course.
It will be interesting, in a dangerous to life and liberty sort of way, if they decide he is hurting the wrong people after all.
Well, that is better return on investment than ScamCoinโข ...

"In exchange for letting me call them 'England' we are removing all the tariffs I imposed on the UK."
Hey, that is precisely what I predicted!
And we will have a worse deal than we did before. But the press will pretend it TOTALLY is worth it
Oh, THAT'S MASSIVE. THANK GOD WE GOT TRADE WITH ALL OF THE UK!

These are the professionals. They know what to ask and when, and buy and sell for maximum profit. It's the retail MAGA idiots who are basically giving the scammers their money.
Frankly, I think โSmelaniaโ and โStrumpโ are better names for them both.
We should all go back to "Drumpf."
I prefer "ThatmotherfuckingassholefromNewYork."
Seriously, it's a fucked up world when anyone has $2.6 million to drop on melonia coins.
Pyramid scheme with a dash of insider trading
May they all come crashing down.
The ones who sold out fast won't.
The ones who bought in though....
Honestly I do wonder if we're gonna have a rash of very public financial related suicides like we did when the market crashed under W.
Whomp whomp
If I ever adopt another dog, it will be a senior.
Some senior dogs are still convinced theyโre puppies. See my nearly eleven year old fella. Plenty of boing in his bounce
(sniffs) "Who's cooking fish in the microwave?"
It was me...
You naughty person.
He has very carefully selected people who will never say No to him.
He's a real estate dude. He does not WANT the cost of real estate to go down.
People would be wise to keep that in mind.
Oh great, Measles detected in Sedgwick county, unvaxxed child has likely exposed others.

"We have way too much spend on things that do not work,"
Frankly, I don't give a SHIT what you think, Palantir guy. It's up to Congress to appropriate spending, not you. You get ONE VOTE.
That Man golfing might actually be keeping America safer ...
2) The agency heads are NOT INFORMING HIM and just doing what they want with no oversight because he's so far gone they can get away with it
Both?
Not to mention, those things all worked. USAID worked. NIOSH worked. FDA worked.
It all worked.
"We like pressure on the system. We need pressure on the system. Because that pentesting forces you to ask questions like, 'Does the software work? How does it work? How does it manage ethical concerns? How does it manage data protection? How does it manage output?'" But this is not a software system, dope.
Weird to mention data penetration when RFK and Elon and DOGE are looking to steal tons of Americans' private info...
Good point. Data protection is exactly what they don't want.
Because austerity worked so well for the British under the Tories.
Austerity for big corps means less government oversight on them
Well, our piece of shit MAGA Governor here in OK vetoed a bill that would allow the OSBI to work with tribal police to address and solve the disproportionate violence against native women because it "favors a race". I don't even know what to say. What a shitty time it has become. How far back will we go?
Are Oklahoma and Missouri in a contest to see who is more "christian" and shitty?
What a asshole.
HE'S NATIVE AMERICAN!

Jesus. That line right there really says it all
Well, you decided to cooperate with that orange bag of shit.
The teachers having to comfort the staffer. It's a teacher thing.
Oh fucking Christ, he sounds JUST like like Trump.
He sounds like my dad. -_-
That's exactly what I thought
I saw cuts of Trurmp's presser with the Canadian PM yesterday, Trump's eyes were all glassy and he was making even less sense than usual. Is his brain damage, dementia, early Alzheimer's or whatever becoming more obvious?
AOT,K
What does AOT mean, excuse my ignorance.
AOTK
Internet slang contraction for "All of them, Katie," a play on the phrase eventually spoken by then-Vice Presidential candidate Sarah Palin, after a very long pause, in answer to a question posed by then-CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric regarding what newspapers and magazines Palin had read before being named as the 2008 GOP Vice Presidential nominee.
Thank you! A classic moment from Bimbo plus.
Thank you too! I remember that excruciating moment well.
I googled AOT, do you mean the play?
AOT, K is shorthand for all of them, Katie. The source was Palin.
Aha, thank you. I remember that, what a bimbo.
Plus meds
Meanwhile, I shit you not, there is an OPED in my local paper TODAY about the white house keeping Biden's decline "hidden" from the public.
Local editorial writer or cribbed from a national like The NY Times?
https://normantranscript-cnhi.newsmemory.com/
Washington Examiner, as a matter of fact.
No wonder. Count on them for right wing stuff.
Yeah because none of us realized he was old and a bit slower when we voted for him in 20
Anyone who has spent "unstructured" time with the brain-broke buffoon knows he's detached from reality.
The press knows it, even Fox, though they try to ignore it.

Can't wait for THAT digression.
All the "PAB 2028" BS is part of this.
Standard authoritarianism. "The Leader can not be wrong, only be wronged."
Or "Yes, this is horrible, but it's only The Leader's minions. Once The Leader finds out about it, he'll set things right."
Apparently Carney pulled him to a stop and corrected him to his face.
โCanada is not for sale.โ
I saw he said Canada is not for sale. Yeah, Trump was not up to his usual level of bluster, and I thought REALLY glassy eyes.
Would be terrible if it was something fatal.
