So very happy. Y’know, I think I’ve been doing internet wrong. Bee and Lin are the very best. Though really wanna get after Lin’s gallery wall with a t-square & a level (but that’s my own mental illness). Also, the ten year old is obsessed with bagpipes and now the Snake Charmer has a new superfan.

Is anyone going to see the Coyote vs Acme movie today? All the showtimes seem to be in the afternoon, but I can’t do a matinee today. I guess I’ll have to wait until Thursday for nighttime showings

Arthritis in my hands had been degrading my manual dexterity over the course of the past seven years.

Until I found this one weird trick where I use the various controls on my remote to freeze, fast foreword and skip video clips of donnie, Oz, RFK,Jr., Pickled Pete and all the Fox news team that various podcasters insist on inserting into their podcasts for illustration purposes. I frequently switch hands mid-podcast and also mix up which fingers are on which buttons as I relieve the anxiety of seeing and hearing stupid shits being stupid.

The improvement has been so dramatic that I am juggling again over at the park in the evening. (at least until the other people band together and drive me away.)

Posted this last night when the movie thread turned open. It's THE VERY BEST Groucho clip of Pedro Gonzalez Gonzalez on You Bet Your Life. It has been making me die of laughter for years. John Wayne saw the clip and got Gonzalez a lifetime of Hollywood work.

How about a recipe for Loaded Cauliflower Casserole…with Turkey Bacon!!!

Makes 8 servings

8 slices turkey bacon, or more to taste

1 large head cauliflower, cut into florets

½ cup sour cream

½ cup mayonnaise

1 clove garlic, minced

½ teaspoon salt

¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

2 cups shredded Colby-Monterey Jack cheese, divided

1 (8 ounce) package baby bella mushrooms, roughly chopped

6 tablespoons chopped fresh chives, divided

Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F (220 degrees C). Grease a 9x13-inch baking dish.

Place turkey bacon in a large skillet and cook over medium-high heat, turning occasionally, until evenly browned, about 10 minutes. Drain slices on paper towels, then crumble.

Place a steamer insert into a saucepan and fill with water to just below the bottom of the steamer. Bring water to a boil. Add cauliflower, cover, and steam until tender, 15 to 20 minutes.

Combine sour cream, mayonnaise, garlic, salt, and black pepper in a large bowl; add cauliflower, 1/2 of the bacon, 1 cup Colby-Monterey Jack cheese, mushrooms, and 3 tablespoons chives and mix well. Transfer mixture to the prepared baking dish and top with remaining bacon and cheese.

Bake in the preheated oven until bubbling and cheese is melted, about 20 minutes. Sprinkle remaining chives over the finished casserole.

Copied! Thank you. Right down my alley. I suspect I now have an allergy to nightshades (tomatoes for sure, potatoes? ) so this is perfect for satisfying my casserole cravings. Turkey bacon is a fave.

Ok, good times? Mrs. Toomush and I spent the morning moving heucheras, and one oak leaf hydrangea. I know it is not a good time to do it, but we had rain last night, and we have too many plants expanding their territories into others' territories...then she went to work at the libarry...

OK -- anyone who looks at my handle/avatar, or who just knows me, knows I am constitutionally incapable of participating in Nice Times. So here's the OT gripe I came to drop on everyone:

In the latest move to make college football indistinguishable from the NFL, colleges now will be allowed to sell advertising patches on players' jerseys. This will go nicely with the on-field ads that they started allowing two years ago.

Advertisers are already lining up. Some are predictable, like Tyson Foods and Arkansas (the corporate HQ and the college are cheek-by-jowl). Others are headscratchers, like Kansas snagging something called "Ripple XRP," which is not a supercharged brand of cheap wine but some kind of cryptocurrency. Who knows if they'll even be around by the end of the season.

And The Citadel, which I think is the military academy for Confederate meatheads who consider VMI too woke, will be getting ads from something called "Palmetto State Armory." It sounds appropriate, but I have no idea what it is.

Pretty soon the only difference between the NFL and college teams will be the names. And even that will be blurred, as the NCAA, which now loses in court more often than Donald Trump, fumbles away its efforts to keep players from passing easily between one and the other.

Palmetto state armory is a mid to high quality gun manufacturer.

OK, that makes sense.

A LOT of sense. Unfortunately.

That's it. That's the joke.

Bitter Scribe's avatar

She was its first female graduate. And if THAT doesn't tell you everything you need to know about that place, read "The Lords of Discipline" by Pat Conroy (another alum).

Bitter Scribe's avatar

I know. It's also a country. And what do either of those have to do with ads on college football jerseys?

See Mike Johnson squirm when asked about this Kushner meeting with Jeffries. He knows the meeting means that Trump thinks they will lose the House. And that totally undercuts them.
