The Dems since 2008 have added diversity to their presidential ticket and just to stick it to the libs and appeal to old scared white people who are afraid of change, the GOP is gonna make a point to be the party that nominates two white guys forever.

I have a long history with New College and Sarasota. NC has always had higly selective admissions demanding academic excellence. I have no doubt that DeSantis and his flunkies can and will destroy New College. The excellent faculty will go elsewhere and in a few short years the brightest of the bright who are NC's students will have moved on. Neither group will be replaced with new faculty and students of similar excellence. The new Hillsdale of the South will be a dull and unrewarding refuge for right wing shitheads. It's sad.

A friend's mother was a lifelong Republican, active in the county party, until 2008. She broke with the party because of Palin.
The optics look better to have one woman up on the stage at the debates to balance out all those white men.
