I have had the same reaction to some of the accusations that are being given the light of day by the partial release of the Epstein files. In fact, I am of the belief that the lying sons-a-bitches in the Trump DOJ have deliberately released some of the allegations BECAUSE they are not credible on their face, thereby discrediting in advance actually credible accusations against Trump and others of his protected class. The old "falsus in uno" evidence so don't believe any of it argument.
I wonder what your bluesky pal thinks of the epstein files between him and the 4 chan creator about how easy it would be to plant stories in social media and brain wash people into believing them.
Cause.....
But yes, this. They were not right. Their absurdities got people in trouble, got people shot at, maybe even got people killed. They protected the pedophiles by going after the wrong people. Do not congratulate
“…a good rule of thumb is to be more suspicious of the things you want to be true than of the things you don’t…”
A good corollary to that is to be cautious of dismissing things which DON’T fit your worldview. I try to apply that while scrolling through the news, and read an occasional article from a legitimate source whose headline makes me seethe. It rarely convinces me that my preconceptions are wrong, but I give it a shot.
Facts and reality don’t mean anything to the maga cult. Here’s a quote I found that shows just how utterly stupid they are.
“A fact is information minus emotion. An opinion is information plus experience. Ignorance is an opinion lacking information. And, stupidity is an opinion that ignores a fact.”
Most of them fit the last. They prove their stupidity on a second by second basis.
I'm still processing that the gun nuts were right about the 2A resisting Gov't Tyranny. I need parity to defend against the ICE droogs when they come for me and mine.
i think the problem with qanon being right once, in a vague sort of way, about some things, is that its used to trivialise the facts and prop up the flagging beliefs of the faithful.
anyone can be right, and sometimes they are right about terrible things, that doesn't mean we check our brains at the door (which is what qanon wants us to do)
Do I believe that he SA-D children? You betcha, dude went on and on about Ivanka's 2-year old chest body parts on Howard Stern. Who does that? Answer: a pdfile.
Do I believe that he murdered babies and threw them overboard? No Pho King Hue. If it happened, he had a staffer do it.
I think that was Tiffany, not Ivanka, in that particular interview. Not that it makes much difference, especially seeing how he clearly prefers Ivanka now. People do forget about T.
DId the dude ever touch a baby? I have my doubts. Its what the nanny is for.
I'm pleased to see somebody else writing about this! I did a piece with a very similar title back in February.
Steve Albini also wrote a song about that satanic panic child exploitation stuff called Jordan, Minnesota.

I like to say that conspiracies are real, they're called quarterly reports and everyone can read them.

Yes. I have been trying to articulate these things but you did it for me. Thanks.
Ta, Robyn. Sober and sane. Some of these people seem to be channeling Arizona Wilder being interviewed by David Ickes.
ah, the Simpsons, predicting the future yet again.

It doesn't count when the tyranny is directed towards Those People!

Glanced up at the gym TV and saw that ABC was highlighting the Trump SA of children story.
The sharks are smelling blood

2nd go round…you know HR, liberal and voted Democratic, she’s sweet, a bit tough. We know best, though.
Then ,last go round, thank goodness it’s HR who was correct all along…super caring and total forgiveness.
2nd go round might be OK, I feel very strongly, now. Being correct, it is OK
