Ok...on "True Blood," set in Louisiana, there's a redneck named Jason who weasels his way on to the police force with the sheriff is addicted to vampire blood and....nevermind.

Bloody hell, we're being schooled by the Welsh.

I don't know how old your mom is, but I'm 64, and when I was growing up, "Negro" was a polite term. When I was in college, "Black" was preferred by many, and certainly outlasted "Afro-American". I'll admit that my first tendency is still to use "Black", instead of "African-American", because that's what I learned during the most impressionable period of my life.

It matters less what words you use than how you use them. (With the exception of a few really charged words, of course). I'd be concerned about "the blacks" because it implies that "they" are all the same. I don't know if that is racist, but it's certainly parochial. But really, what is important is how your skullf*cking folks behave, not what words they use.

Also, too, regarding "oriental" versus "Asian": Asia is a really big geographic area, formerly known as "the Orient". Most of the people I've known who came from, or were descended from, that super-continent would prefer to be referred to (if it is unavoidable) by their nationality -- e.g., Filipino, Japanese, Korean, Chinese, Thai, Malay, Vietnamese, Indian, Mongolian, Indonesian, etc. "Asian" is just as annoyingly generic as "oriental".

The NOPD just experienced a vast improvement:

"Jason Giroir resigned one day after he was suspended without pay Monday after admitting he made the comments and shortly after Public Integrity Bureau Chief Arlinda Westbrook notified him that allegations of misconduct against him had been sustained."

He is now a neighborhood watch volunteer.

I applaud Rebecca for her succinct analysis of this soon-to-be former NOLA law enforcement officer: "YOU STUPID FUCKING RACIST CRACKER."

Even if he loses his position with NOPD, he'll most likely get hired by some smaller Parish because he has a state law enforcement commission. Worse is that many of the state law enforcement commissions have reciprocity agreements so he can move to another state and transfer his commission and certifications.

What we've got here is a case of communicating all too well.

Ever notice the Nazguls are all wearing HOODIES?

As someone else here noted, these racist goobers are outing themselves all over the country, thanks in large part to the Fucks Gnus blowhards, who make them think it's OK because everybody else on Planet Ailes feels the same way.

Maybe, in the long run, it will be good to know who these cretins are -- especially the ones who can be voted out of office or dismissed from public jobs. In the short term, the close association of these characters with the GOP can only help the Dems in November ... so let's hear from more of them, as loud and revolting as they want to be.

I bet you're right ... and it's probably on his department computer.

The bad news is he'll have to buy a computer. He probably isn't going to be able to use the one at work anymore.

2L;

Funny you should mention that. Back in 2008, there were many Internets rumors about a video of Mrs. Obama making a remark about "Whitey."

It was always about-to-be-released - and I believe that is its current status, some four years later...

Law enforcement is a little sketchy when you're in a town filled with vampires.

(We're talking about "True Blood" right?)
