I was bemoaning the lack of good workers at my place of business last year and a co-worker brightly said, "We just need to have more babies!" Notwithstanding the fact that it will be at least 16 or more years from now that the future employee will be able to work.

We need an oversupply of workers. </sarcasm_trickle_down> Seriously, the neverending battle against fascist right to lifers continues.

I thought I read somewhere that the National Right-To-Life organization had filed a suit with the Michigan Supreme Court to the effect that the recent voter initiative about Abortion was defective in some respect and must be thrown out. Any truth to that?

No, Robyn, I won't think of the military contractors.

I don’t get it. How does the AG’s inability to understand the definition of words means this initiative covers more than one issue? It’s still all about when women can access abortion services, isn’t it?

It's a form of nullification, the right's project of stacking the courts with mobsters is paying off.

Maybe straying off topic, but I wanted to mention that Florida AG Ashley Moody is also attempting to fuck up the ballot initiative to legalize recreational marijuana in the state. I dunno - it's starting to sound like she's trying to out-Bondi Pam Bondi by being a total asshole

So, a total POS.

Also, why do we waste all the food stamps on people that can’t afford food?

SNAP recipients should not be able to use their benefits for fresh meat, butter, flour, white rice, white bread, sliced cheese, cooking oil, herbs, spices, coffee, and tea, according to GOP assholes in Iowa. They were unable to push the restrictions through, but by golly, they tried, because poor people should subsist upon flavorless gruel and humiliation.

MsEdgyNation's avatar

Exactly. Won't save the state any money, but making staples ineligible for SNAP effectively inflicts another damn financial burden on people who are already struggling. This bullshit makes me mad enough to chew sheet metal and spit carpet tacks.

And none of that has to do with any cost savings. Rice, for example, is super cheap. It’s about humiliation and punishment for being poor.

“Hopefully the people of Ohio will get their amendment, but it’s hard to put anything past dopes like these people.”

The people in question have spent the last several years ignoring the ballot measure that was supposed to implement fairer redistricting. Don’t think that they won’t just straight-up ignore this, too.

The solution is always, you have to vote Republicans out of power.

"Tommy Tuberville...blocked 364 more military officers from getting promotions"

So why haven't other Senators taken him into the restroom and given him a swirly? Everyone seems to have taken the "I guess we'll never promote anyone ever again while he's in office"

stance.

“The amendment’s language is dangerously vague and unconstrained"

By which he means the wording 'one's own reproductive decisions, including but not limited to' contraception, fertility, miscarriage and abortion, does NOT specifically rule out chopping off one's tallywhacker should the sight of it offend thee. It also does not address the crucial issue of whether or not daddy can tell you No if you've made up your mind not to keep or even have your baby. These are Big Problems for the reich wing, who are busy fear-jizzing themselves over all the terrible things they are very sure will now be allowed to happen in Ohio, to the infernal delight of the Dark Lord Satan.

When Michigan passed it's own ballot measure last year, it went for broke and enshrined reproductive freedom of choice, including the right to abortion, birth control, and trans gender care. Abortion was the main focus, but when repubs started to realize they were gonna lose hard, they switched to the scare tactic that the wording was so vague you could send your first grader off to school in the morning, and when you pick them up in the afternoon the school nurse could have decided based on your kid's stray random comment, to give them an abortion, A sex change, and shove some birth control pills down their throat, ALL WITHOUT PARENTAL CONSENT!!!!!!

Its gonna suck for a lotta people over the next year but it WILL all but guarantee democratic sweeps in the election...The public TOLD republicans that they want to keep abortion legal, so attempts to continue to undermine the publics will will destroy republicans in 2024...Republican voters aren't the smartest at connecting the dots between what they want and what the representatives they vote for want to take AWAY from them, but maybe ENOUGH will figure it out?
