Because I needed the reminder that 80 million adults in this country hate me as a baseline metric. On a day I went in for a surgery with some miserable prep. Didn't need to see that retweet today. Neither did anyone else, pretty much ever. So I deleted it.
This is not a criticism, but I feel roughly the same way about the prospect of reading that link right now.

The irony in all of this is that if trans women start going into men's rooms to pee, the RWNJs going to freak the fuck out about that. A lot of women would be freaked out if they saw a trans man using the ladies room.
I was always very androgynous looking, and I remember in the 1980s I was at a country club, and I went to pee, and this very loud woman in a floral, Laura Ashley dress said "hey, you're not allowed...Oh, I thought you were a man." I was DYING to say "that's OK, I thought YOU were a couch. That dress is hideous, sis."
There's a bathroom I like to use in a restaurant at the local beach that is unisex. There are no urinals, it's just all stalls. As far as I know, nobody has been raped or murdered there. Problem solved!
Of course we'll probably get Nikki Haley coming out with her "can't we all agree that it's wrong to murder trans people? Can't we start there"? Everyone knows shunning is very effective for a few decades, until people realize that trans people are no different than the rest of us.
Forcing trans people to use their AGAB facilities would actually make it EASIER for cis men perverts to invade women's spaces. Because trans men exist, and lots of them are muscly hairy dudes who pass as cis men without a second thought.
So, if trans men are being forced to use women's facilities, why would perverts bother to dress as trans women? Why wouldn't they just walk in, and claim to be a trans man if they're challenged? Be a lot easier.

What’s he doing these days? Why, he’s co-chair of No Labels, of course.
One thing Josh Stein has going for him is the guy who whipped McCrory’s ass, termed-out but still popular Gov Roy Cooper, who has never lost an election. I saw Gov Cooper at a live Lovett or Leave It show back in October, and he’s got some oratorical chops. Wouldn’t be surprised if he challenges Thom Thillis (sic) in 2026. And he’ll do whatever he can for Josh Stein.
Otherwise we are mightily fucked, because Robinson is dangerous.

We have neutral bathrooms in CA. Just make them that. I can safely say that having had a transgender friend, the place most fraught with fear for her was the bathroom. If it wasn’t neutral she would hold it or literally drive home.
Visiting my uncle late 80’s NYC and encountered a transgender woman in the lav who was mortified and apologetic for being there. I assured her that it was no bother.
And that’s just using a toilet, the constant fear when you are transgender.
In Seattle circa Grunge there were any number of bars where women pissed in the Boy's room b/c the line was shorter. And ya know what? Nobody cared. The bathrooms in the Comet Tavern were the last place anyone wanted to fuck. Think open septic tank.

Catholic high school in the 80s all of us girls were taught how to be protective of our virtue, and ways to try to shame boys into not raping us, while dressing as not quite nuns, but very covered up and modest. Guess how many lessons boys got on consent and not raping anyone?
The only time we got anything close to truth was from our biology teachers. They were a married couple who would use very careful read between the lines here kids!! language to try to encourage us to go to more trusted sources or ignore Church doctrine on all subjects sexual. Mr Bio would remind the boys during annual sex ed that he was always respectful of Mrs Bio's boundaries, and they had been very happily and "actively" married for 25 plus years, something that does not happen if you do not respect girls. He was not allowed to come out and say "Assholes!! Don't rape!!", but could give marriage advice.
Fundamentalists of all stripes appear to think all men are incapable of controlling themselves around women. It's usually women's fault somehow so I guess trans women at least get equity in that department.

I have used men's bathrooms - only when absolutely necessary - for 40 years. Have never had a problem, but I am a straight white female...
