I found out yesterday that the Social Security office in my area is or has already been closed. It's a minor thing in the grand scheme of things but this is a very red area and I expect most of the residents here aren't aware of it yet.
I don’t work for the government and don’t know anyone who does. That said, I think government workers are our brothers and sisters and we need to support them now more than ever. Since government workers are themselves taxpayers, it could be argued that they are, to a degree, self employed.
Every email that was sent out asking what each employee did last week should have had a mass auto generated reply.
Sadly, one of the main results of Musk/Trump stupidity will be a rapid enshittification of life for those who are poor, brown, female, LGBTQ, disabled, children, resulting in unnecessary misery and death.
The judges in these cases need to immediately imprison any regime attorney or employee who refuses to answer their questions. Set firm deadlines, hold them in contempt when they ignore them, and jail them with the maximum legally allowed fines, like $5,000 a day to be paid personally by the attorney -- no bondsman, no administration payment . . . Out of their personal bank accounts. I would bet a lot of them will come through, or resign from the trumpistas.
Why is this not already happening? The system has collapsed. We are in a whole new ballgame now, and nothing, nothing that assumes that system is still functioning will help. Serfs Up.
