You're on the computer! Have you seen this wonderful New Yorker cover? We mean before right now? Well, National Review Online's Kathryn Jean Lopez has, and she has summed it up with the two most trenchant, insightful words anyone could have in these Times of Despair. Her entire post is a picture of the cover (above!) and the headline Innocence. Lost. (Well, okay, and then the fragment "The new cover of The New Yorker: " -- but still!)
Anthony Kennedy may be a huge disappointment much of the time, especially when joyfully stripping the people of their recourse against abusive corporate overreach, but if he managed to shut K-Lo the fuck up, I'll love him forever.
Why is it, anyway, that ignorance (let's face it, that's what they mean when they say "innocence") is so dearly cherished?
Oh wait that's right, it's the only way their side gets elected. Move along.
