"We need our guns to fight tyranny"... why is a paper mask tyranny but Jeebus threatening to burn you in hell for the first mistake not tyranny?

Gotta stop you there. If you ship any firearm to anybody else, even if you already own the gun, your gun needs to go through an FFL where you do have to go through a background check. The only way around that is in person transfers in certain states

All the gun freaks are going to run around with hard ones screaming incoherently that the gubmint is picking on them. Boohoo motherfuckers

Hey remember that time Trump said he'd take all the guns, fuck your rights. No? Oh well, here it is.

Jesus wept. More gun dealers than doctor's offices. America.

Thank you OHJB for taking a step in the right direction. But it is still a tiny fucking step. GO FOR THEIR GUNS, ALL OF THEM, DO IT DO IT I DARE YOU!!!

OT: I have made a list of stories I would like to write over the next few months. They should each be a few pages long.

It feels so good to actually take concrete steps toward something I want to do.

Yipee!

Please, President Biden, declare all semi-automatic rifles to be the property of the U.S. Military. Birb would approve.

DDB9000's avatar

I wpu;d not, as it is known there is a significany number of reich-wingers in the military.

My dad gave my minor child an automatic weapon* a while back. I was shocked that it was all perfectly legal except for flying with it, which I had to do, and which made me so nervous I spilled gun bits everywhere in the ticket counter at the airport, but the Wyoming airport people were totally unphased, so I'm guessing lots of people travel with guns. The whole thing makes me crazy. TAKE MY GUN JOE!!

* an evening bag sized ladies Colt automatic pistol owned by my great grandmother, with a magazine of ten tiny .25 caliber bullets. I get panic attacks just holding it but my son taught me to disarm it at least.

If it weren't a gun I would find it charming because it's so old and elegant and silly

“Oh so if I want to hand down the gun my grandfather used to kill Nazis to protect this country I have to register with the government?!?!! Or what if I just go to a John Wick movie!?? Biden is making everyone a criminal!!” - someone probably

But first, he is coming for all your lightbulbs, he will confiscate your gas stoves, he will burn your Bibles, and turn all your children gay. THEN he'll take away ALL your gunz.

Retired Superhero's avatar

Seems like we should take the guns first, that way they won’t shoot us over the gas stoves/bibles/ceiling fans/gay.

Ellie still in the mix in 26's avatar

They won't be able to. Remember, Biden has Super Powers. Even though he's a senile weak old man, he Controls Everything - possibly even the weather. Stopping a few guns from being fired should be a walk in the park for him.

If it what's needed to reach luxury gay space communism, then it's a sacrifice we should all be willing to make.

So much to love in that vision.

When the NRA fought the insta check system back in the 90s, I quit them. I liked shooting on the weekends with my friends and didn't see how a background check was going to hurt that.

They lobbied against law changes to make suing over defective guns harder. They aren't a consumer group, they're a trade group

Good on ya, Uncle Joe!

JustPixelz's avatar

Unless properly transferred or promptly reported stolen, gun owners should be civilly and criminally responsible for how their guns are used.

Jenny Queen of the Vilebloods's avatar

Even if reported stolen, if you lose a gun, you can still be held liable.

And require insurance.

Americans need to remember that it's all a matter of perspective. Rather than seeing this as Uncle Joe "takin' summa muh rights a'way!" it's more a matter of being able to actually go out and enjoy all of their other rights without getting shot.
