Stephen Colbert said that, after his Correspondents Dinner gig, absolutely no one would even make eye contact with him except for Scalia, who shook his hand and told him he was hilarious.

Fine. Now Hillary can stay home Monday night. Just have Mark Cuban run Omarosa's revealing little observations over and over in a vine. No muss, no fuss.

I tried to figure out a tasteful scalp reference, but eventually decided there wasn't one. Credit to Bill for figuring out a good joke about it.

The only thing DJT has honestly earned in his entire misbegotten life is the public derision, contempt and scorn thinking folks (though few in MSM or (R) party) have heaped upon him during this campaign. What really burns my ass about the debate is that, by even sharing the stage with this feckless fool, it affords him a degree of legitimacy to which he is, by no means, entitled, thus making him appear a "viable candidate" instead of the soul-crushing threat to the universe he truly is.

So help me, I almost feel sorry for the (clears throat...)

No, not for the roasting. Y'ask me, he should be grateful that was so relatively gentle. It speaks to the sheer class of President Obama he would take what was also a none-too-cryptic and disturbing sign of widespread racist crap and tolerance of the same like the birther phenomenon and choose to play it mostly for the absurdity it also happens to be, get some decent laughs out of it. And more broadly, had Trump any actual damned maturity, he could take the roasting like mature people do (and like plenty of others in the room clearly did, as he was just one on a long enough list to take a few lumps in that routine), laugh a bit at himself, say, yeah, okay, it _is_ more than a bit ridiculous I got sucked into that ugly stupidity. And, okay, the optics of my life you get from the 'reality TV' bit I'm playing now, sure, you could see that as a bit, erm, less than impressive... And if he really needed some damn affirmation, you'd think there'd be any number of achievements even in his somewhat chequered career he could remind himself of. He _has_ got a few things built, even if they're not exactly to everyone's tastes, the finances could be less regularly a mess, and he could have stepped on and burned a lot fewer people getting there...

No. What I feel sorry for: look at how he fits into this depressingly regularly repeated narrative. Here we go again: nasty, resentful man-child who's going to take his butthurt out on _everyone_, make a larger misery for everyone...

... and I'll make the standard prediction from history: it isn't even going to make him happy. He's a sucking vortex of empty uncertainty, and need for reassurance, will _still_ be eaten at by every criticism, every failure, even were he to win this office, even were he to successfully subvert all the remains of democracy in the world and have himself declared god emperor. Never mind half _empty_; however much he achieves, the glass is always _entirely_ empty but for a faint rind of salt residue in the bottom, left when all the water boiled off in his impotent frustration. He'd have his brief, ugly, bitter triumphs, humiliate those whose hatred now animates him, briefly cackle like a cheap B movie villain. And burn from both ends endlessly after, all the same, with suppressed, exhausting desperation to avoid realizing: that he's still just an asshole, with no real vision beyond that miserable need for self-aggrandizement, nothing more to offer the world.

That is to say: I _would_ almost feel sorry for him. But there's a level of destructive people get to, and it's increasingly hard to give a damn about their issues. However incredibly...

Well, sad. To use a word he's oddly fond of.

Someone may have mentioned it downthread, and if so I apologize, but Drumph also felt majorly, majorly dissed by the Clintons because he was *not* invited to Chelsea's wedding. He's very motivated by revenge.

He's got handlers who regrettably are nasty but not stupid. No hope!

There are many among family and friends, myself included, dealing with a host of "issues". I wouldn't vote for any of us.

Oh my goodness! I had forgotten that. Trump recognized the failure was a lack of leadership, so he fired Gary Busey. Those are the decisions that keep me up at night. While the operation to kill Osama bin Laden was underway. That makes the whole monologue even funnier! The mother knew KNEW the operation was underway, and he's trolling Trump over the size of his balls. Man! And, Ohmrosa or whatever the fuck her name is, is thinking that Trump has a chance against Obama? Trump better pray he doesn't win. If Obama was merciless and just hammering him all night there, what the fuck do you think is going to happen should he happen to accidentally stumble into the White fucking House?

My most prominent philosophy class memory is John Lennon being gunned in the street like a common black man the morning of our final exam. Not as happy as your B, though. Congratulations.

All the more reason to believe he'll resign immediately after the inaugural festivities.

Well, the Producers succeeded with Springtime for Hitler and Germany. Why not Trump? Aren't we all Nazis at heart? Really, aren't we?

If we ever make a commemorative stamp with Trump's face on it, it should be him from that Correspondent's Dinner shellacking he took. That's the way I prefer to remember Trump: completely uncertain how to take the humiliation that was being heaped upon him and that he so richly deserved.
