.They're kissing my ass," Trump said of those Other Countries what been calling him to beg for relief, if they exist, every one of them a "Sir" story in the making. After all, what IS Making America Great Again but ensuring that the orange ass gets kissed by as many (possibly imaginary) foreign lips as can be corralled into his mass delusion?

Fixed income here. Less of my own ass every day. Nobody's addressing me as "Sir" with tears in their eyes, but maybe I deserve it...I voted for her.

People were selling us consumer goods for often 20% of what they would cost if we made them here. So how is that them "ripping us off"? Seems like it may have been the other way around. We were living large while they were living in abject poverty. I suppose Trump was offended by the seeming immorality of that, You know, being a "Godly" Christian man and all /s

Trump can't read, I doubt he can write and he can't do math.

He's been informed over and over again that tariffs aren't paid by the country that they are imposed on but on consumers and businesses here but he absolutely refuses to acknowledge that fact because he's so SMRT!.

He has no empathy, no intelligence and is a danger to everyone including himself.

Probably, since Walmart brand cat food is all you and I will be able to afford to eat, if we’re lucky.

I don't get it. Why call him now? He called them off on everyone, not just the ones who agreed to deal.

Oh, and everything ol' KL said was a lie.

I can't imagine this economic chaos NOT leading to pandemic-style "supply chain issues" in the near future. Remember when people couldn't drive their 2 year old car for six months? It was because there was a backlog of engine computers due to Asian chip manufacturing being disrupted by Covid.

My theory on the tariff thing:

Trump took one look at tariffs and immediately decided that they were the bees knees, and his army of sycophants didn't include a reality person anymore so no one was there to talk him down or even realize they needed to talk him down now!

So he went with them, and they were a disaster, but they're buried in his thick skull now so there's no getting them out without a lot of effort and backbone. In desperation they told him he could use them to manipulate the market and so he finally did his pause, being blatantly obvious that this was a market manipulation guys, hey everybody buy for a second!

Then the market dropped the next day, so now he's doing the only thing he knows how, doubling down on the thing that doesn't work but he's convinced works.

And why is the msm reporting shit this way. Seem to be leaving a key thing out here.

“The Dow and S&P 500 gained 5% and 5.7%, respectively, this week, their best performances since October 2023. The Nasdaq rose 7.3%, its biggest weekly increase since November 2022”

I can't see much point in "begging" Trump and co. There's always an excuse for tariffs. Down my way, that 25% was supposedly in retaliation for not doing enough to lower migration rates and fentanyl smuggling. With migration rates dropping and fentanyl seizures up, now it's water deficits along the Colorado river.

The upshot is Mexico is just expanding it's trade with other countries, looking at free trade deals with the EU, expanding Latin American and internal markets. And selling the oil (we're the third largest source for US oil imports) elsewhere.

The rest of the world will carry on with relatively low tariffs on trade, while the U.S. gets ever more isolated.

The U.S. market is big, but not irreplaceable.
