My thoughts exactly. If you define the job as \"gun-toting tough guy dressed in black and accessorized in leather traversing dangerous cities in a sedan w/blacked-out windows,\" you attract a certain sort of applicant, even if it does say \"Protect and Serve\" on the door.

Well, those front windows were broken and dangerous. I'd claim the shooting was in self-defense.

Only a small proportion routinely carry guns. Others are trained to use guns, but only have guns issued under special circumstances.
