Victims deserve some sort of closure whether you think they do or not. Some families ask for leniency, others want their loved ones in jail forever, or dead. I've instructed my mother that if I'm ever killed by a drunk driver, to request leniency for that person. A lot of people think I'm crazy for thinking that way.

Madoff couldn't pay triple the amount he stole, because he had pissed it all away, like most Ponzi scheme operators do. We had one in my hometown who pissed sixty million dollars away on Mont Blanc pens and clown paintings. He was a well respected economist who wasn't smart enough just to buy a few apartment buildings and call it a day.

I'm sorry you think less of me for whatever it was I said, but everyone is entitled to an opinion. Yours is not more correct than mine. Lots of people would start stealing if they knew they weren't going to go to jail for it. I wish I had gone into religious grifting as a career. It's highly lucrative, takes advantage of horrible people, and seems to be recession proof. Plus the risk of jail is minimal.

You would stand out as being the person who wasn't sick and didn't stink.
