Not likely to be poster children for the 'War On Faith' After losing an appeal before the Oregon Supreme Court,an easterna western Oregon couple is headed to prison for trying to "faith heal" their two-months-premature newborn son instead of taking him to a hospital in 2011. Dale and Shannon Hickman are members of the Followers of Christ church, which doesn't hold with no medical treatment, preferring fervent prayer, "anointing with oil," and sitting around doing nothing while its members' children die, depending on whether Jesus feels like healing them that day.
Yeah I'm sure the judge should have noticed something was amiss with this midwife when she was asked about how she treats anything and her response was always "leach 'em and pray"
I can agree with the research, the flight or fight reaction fits with gun ownership based on fear, and their strong religious beliefs based on faith alone. Things seem to be processed differently, the majority of right wingers I know seem to have logic based more on emotions than facts. I work in construction, the industry has more right wingnuts than left wingnuts such as myself.
Yes, we do have religious wingnuts in New York. Fortunately, here in Manhattan they tend to keep a low profile. In my neighborhood, an even lower profile.
I was tiny when I was born -- 15" long and 5 pounds. I was put into an incubator. After two days, the ObGyn said, "There's nothing wrong with her. She's just small." I was angry about that man having induced labor, but no longer blame him (mom had serious white coat syndrome all her adult life). That I got better care in 1954 than this poor baby got in 2015 is why I can't stand wingnuts, particularly the religious types.
There is a YouTube video of a home water birth with a "midwife" and there was a surprise twin. Scary, but apparently all were OK. It is a face palm of a video in any case...so many fails...
Strangely, we haven’t heard anything, so far, from the usual flock of loons complaining that there’s a “war on faith” in the United States.
That's because David made the mistake of leaving his mother's womb. Remember, that's when children from from special snowflakes that must be protected at all costs to "Fuck you! Get a job, you taker!"
Christians! Churches! Huckabee! Family Values! Boo-yah!

The Christian War on Children.
I must let slip the dogs - out, out damn Spot
Forget "Hell is for children"; Hell is for parents like these.

Possibly the greatest poem ever written.

The entire congregation should be sterilized. The Hickmans first.
IMHO, the only reason these folks wear spectacles is that without them, they could not get licensed to drive.

Sorry I do not know how to add the link.
Any chance a mandatory tubes-tying and vasectomy were included in the sentencing?
