At this rate we will run out of qualified Rebs to run for state office quickly. Good. They stopped contributing after the Moral Majority took control of the party. They are now a vestigial organ of Oregon politics above the county level.
Even better. They were pulling the same trick that got them slapped in the first place, so there's no weird "but the voters really meant to prevent this other thing over here!" coming up.
“A candidate may run for office in the next primary and general elections and win, but cannot hold office under this measure due to ten or more unexcused absences.”
That's even better. Because if they still campaign and win I assume no one will fill that seat and that district will have no representative. Which might finally sink in to a few of the MAGANON crowd. Keep voting for these clowns and have no say so in government.
Left out of this article (unless I missed it?) is the righties actual argument against having 113 apply to them: that their terms technically don't end until *after* the elections have been held, meaning they're still ok to run in the CURRENT election - it's the one after that they're barred from. That's not likely the way the rule is 'generally understood' in Oregon or anywhere else, but I guess it's all they got.
But it says that they may not serve after their current term ends and says if they run and win they cannot take their seat in the legislature. Like Trump and the Presidential Records Act, they read just to the part that supports their stance but never look at the rest of it. Which says they are full of shit.
That's called desperation. And they know it. But their voters will be standing across the street from the Capitol Building (the front is closed off for construction or the stairs would be used) calling for impeachments, riots and hangings.
At one time Oregon Republicans were the loyal opposition or even electable. Fiscal conservatism flies in a contrarian state like Oregon. Especially when coupled with social awareness. Now they're just a bunch of Trumpeteers.

We ran out of 'qualified' ones years ago. What we've been getting for upwards of the last decade have been the likes of Art Robinson ( https://littlegreenfootballs.com/link/213602_Presenting_the_GOPs_newest_star-_Arthur_Robinson ).
FA, FO.
But [insert Republican's name here] had the sniffles those days! [Her/his] mom wrote a note!
This is superb.
* chef's kiss *
Failure to attend “without excuse”.
It seems the R’s, play a lot of hooky.
It was the last way they had to control the Legislature. They could keep a quorum from forming so nothing could be done.
And, it was passed in 2022, and so was OBVIOUSLY in force when these [humble but necessary body parts] pulled this stunt. Boom.
It was on the ballot because the same crowd pulled the same stunt in the previous session and voters were over it.
Even better. They were pulling the same trick that got them slapped in the first place, so there's no weird "but the voters really meant to prevent this other thing over here!" coming up.
FA met FO. The Schadenfreude is delicious this year.

Love. This.

Excellent point!
They might let them eat in the cafeteria with the cool kids.
Nah…
I thought this was delightful when it happened and hope the nonsense the Rs caused gets swiftly mended. So nice when the good gals win!!!
Amazon says her books are recommended for fans of Baldacci and J.D. Robb and C.J. Box and Sandra Brown. Quite a range there.

She's going with intent, and knows what that is.
I’m fully expecting them to claim that ratfucking the legislative process is an excuse. “We didn’t say it was a good excuse, but it’s an excuse.”
"YOU STOLE FIZZY LIFTING DRINKS!!!"
Wilder's scariest moment in his best role ever, and that's saying something.
The party of personal responsibility, indeed.
I like it, high time these gimcrack politicians spouting flummery and pulling shenanigans were shown the barn door, and stay out.
I love this so much.
Republican trash.

Buncha Idahoan wannabes and dead enders.
