That's how fast an ethics bribery scandal is resolved when you're not a Supreme Court Justice or a Republican.

That was MORE about Kirsten Gillibrand (Fake D-NY), then new to the Senate wanting to make points for herself and try to prove she was a true liberal as when she was in the House she was not so liberal Blue Dog Democrat and had a 100% rating by the NRA. Also she grew up being a relative of people in the very well-off Albany Democratic machine,

''She opposed a 2007 state-level proposal to issue driver's licenses to illegal immigrants and voted for legislation that would withhold federal funds from immigrant sanctuary cities. Gillibrand also voted for a bill that limited information-sharing between federal agencies about firearm purchasers and received a 100% rating from the National Rifle Association (NRA). She expressed personal support for same-sex marriage, but advocated for civil unions for same-sex couples and said same-sex marriage should a state-level issue.'' Wikipedia

But before she was in congress she worked for a number of law firms in Manhattan...

"Gillibrand's tenure at Davis Polk included serving as a defense attorney for tobacco company Philip Morris during major litigation, including both civil lawsuits and U.S. Justice Department criminal and civil racketeering and perjury probes. As a junior associate in the mid-1990s, she defended the company's executives against a criminal investigation into whether they had committed perjury in their testimony before Congress when they claimed that they had no knowledge of a connection between tobacco smoking and cancer. Gillibrand worked closely on the case and became a key part of the defense team. As part of her work, she traveled to the company's laboratory in Germany, where she interviewed scientists about the company's alleged research into the connection. The inquiry was dropped and it was during this time that she became a senior associate." Wikipedia

Going forward again, she was NOT elected the first time, but appointed when former Senator Hillary Clinton was appointed Secretary of State...

''Governor David Paterson's selection process began with a number of prominent names and high-profile New York Democrats, including Andrew Cuomo, Fran Drescher and Caroline Kennedy, vying for the spot. Gillibrand quietly campaigned for the position, meeting secretly with Paterson on at least one occasion. She said that she made an effort to underscore her successful House elections in a largely conservative district, adding that she could be a good complement to Chuck Schumer." Wikipedia.

In other words, being a conservative complement to libeal Chuck Schumer

So bascially she has never been truly liberal, just passing, and saw going after Al Franken as a way to make her faux progressive bona fides, Jordan had virtually nothing to do with this.

I have never voted for her and never will

Malcolm Nance would make a good president. He wouldn't let any assholes get away with anything.

I suppose there's truth in that.

It's a shame she has to lose her government job, but luckily she can keep getting paid $10K a month by the weed growers. I mean, that contract is totally separate from her work as a government official, right?

My skety guy usually has 15 to 20 kinds of flower, multiple price points. Lots of other products and even two or three strains of shrooms. He even takes returns and gives returns. I don't even have to get in my car because he pulls up in the alley out back. Usually in less than an hour. You just knew the wrong guy.

The GOP will use this to smear Gov. Kotek, who obviously knew nothing about it.

No, nationwide.

LOL I meant I live in a rural area. We do not have weed dealers strolling around with a wagon of wares like itinerant tinkers :)

Funny. My guy works his trade both rural, urban, and mail order. All Californian products carefully selected from a host of indoor and outdoor sources He eschews hard drugs of harm and never uses violence. Him and his wife owned one f the early med pot dispensaries in the bay area, back before the industry was taken over by big weed. He saw the need for a Grey market service done differently. He is a retired engineer, a Vet, an ordained minister, non binary, s lover of music and art. He saw how people were abused by hard drug dealer who sold pot on the side so they could support thier own hard drug habits. He looks forward to when the laws change sufficiently that he can go ligit. Cut from a different cloth. Not everyone in the movement is a sketchy asshole. He performs LGBTQ weddings in drag dressed as Devine. A wonderful person we gladly do business. Anymore would be telling.

We spent some late-pandemic time in Troy while our NYC apartment was being renovated and a construction project was loudly happening outside. I loved the 45-minute country road drive to MA.
