I would think that the GOPsters would come to the same conclusion that the Lincoln Project did and realize the long term goal of permanently sending Trump to the private sector far outweighed the short term comfort of not incurring Don the Con's wrath. Or are they that stupid.

They're that worried, and that aware that 40+ years of pandering to the worst elements in their party has resulted in their party now being primarily made up of the worst elements. Quelle suprise!.

Derp, went to double check my French and forgot to complete my thought: Anyway, they know these rabid know-nothings are going to be the people they're going to have to convince to vote for them, and they're worried that Trump is going to be able to maintain control over them for years to come, in or out of the White House.

No, I understand that part. I just don't get why those fuckers would think people would buy into their "apology" if said onlookers weren't delusional, and that's the crux of it: they think everyone out there is as deluded as their core audience of right wing nut jobs.

Hell, for me 2020 shattered all records for the number of times per week I've read a headline and immediately wondered 'Is that from the Onion?'

I have a friend who insisted the the GOP really wasn't a bunch of racist, bigots but implied this attitude to get the "useful idiot" vote. I wanted to ask her, "What does that make you?" but for the life of me could not figure out a tactful way to ask.

This post actually started a chain of associations within my old brain where I ended up remembering a scene from the antique movie 'Raiders of The Lost Ark'.

In one scene Indy's friend Sallah is describing his current employer, the nazi archeology expedition in the desert. "It is as if the Pharaohs have returned!"

Only now, 40 years later, do I realize that this movie foreshadowed the entire editorial policy of Wonkette today.

Fuck the Pharaohs!Fuck the nazis!Fuck fascism!Fuck donnie!

One day, far in the future, space aliens will be digging in our trash heaps and stop to wonder at all the red MAGA hats they find. Their curiousity will center on why the bacteria and other natural rotting agents refuse to touch these particular objects while breaking down everything surrounding them.

Even the bacterial minds of the Orlando Sentinel have wised up to the truth.
