I actually kinda liked the early 80's (except for that whole Reagan thingy). I managed to hide out in a rock and roll band and generally avoid anything remotely resembling responsibility

It's best to not think about the Bush years although I can't forget the British newspaper site the day after the 2004 election that featured a goofy picture of Dubya and the caption DOH! above it.

Hey, that was me! My older sisters had hit the job market 8-10 years earlier, no problems getting a job. Then I need a job, and nothing. Sucks. Back in the 90's I thought that my sons would have it made right about now. The boomers would be retiring and there would be this giant sucking sound as the job market took all the 20 yr olds and gave them those great boomer jobs. Uh, not so much.

I was working in England in 1982, and wondering what Thatcher would do next. Also the father of a friend had recently retired from the British Navy, after serving as Chief Engineer on various supply ships, including 'Sir Galahad'.
