And to add insult to injury, his wife worked as an eldercare advocate for years. It just shows you what greed can do to people ...they saw our parents as a Money Tree, not as real people. In the 20 years my mother was disabled, they came to visit her only twice, and both times only after she said she would pay their expenses.

My parents always had me, just as I always had them. I can't imagine what my life would have been like if I had not always known that they would always be there for me, and I can't imagine how I could look at myself in the mirror today if I had not always been there for them and they had not always known that I would. It wasn't something we thought about or talked about, it was just understood.
