Because podcasts will save the world, obviously. If the Substacks don't get there first.

The night chores are done and I am in a warm bed, bliss. Before I fell asleep I wanted to tell you about a young lady I met today. The physical therapy clinic I go to has a rotating assortment of PT’s and PTA’s, and I’m generally cool with that because everybody has their own skill set. They are for the most part itinerants, and that’s always fun to see the fresh reactions to this place. And I have to say, I admire the courage of people who are willing to arrive here in the middle of winter.

Young lady was from Texas, Hispanic sounding name and appearance, a bit of a bilingual lilt. She said she was from down south, way south very close to the border. And then she looked at me and said it’s bad there. I told her that there had only been one incident here with ice, which was resolved in a positive manner, and that I had the opportunity for a conversation with the mayor and he said that he and the assembly made it very clear that ice was not welcome here. She seemed relieved.

Such a nice young lady, early to mid 20s', beautiful, tiny. I could see her fear when she talked about how things were down there. It wasn’t a long conversation, but it put a face on the situation for me. I found myself, hoping she stays, because she would be safer here. I also talk to her briefly about dual citizenship and citizenship by descent, and how good it feels to have that second passport.

Luckily, this new crop of highly trained ICE agents are forgery experts and can spot a fake ID.

Same happened to me. Only kitty wakes me up that way.

So that ICE budget of $170B would make them the third largest military in the world, and they don't have an air force, a navy, or spy satellites, just SUVs. And how in the hell do they need 8 billion to hire 10,000 more illiterate thugs? That's EIGHT HUNDRED THOUSAND dollars to hire just one fat fascist cosplayer. How many pockets is all of that money really going into?

The party of fiscal responsibility, folks!

Snowolf100's avatar

It's not just hiring people to put them on the street, its buying jets so that cosplay barbie can do her photo ops.

It's so that they can hire places to stuff people into.

It's paying countries, so they can send a person they've deported to them and it costs more to do that for seriously little return. They spend millions to send like 100's to a couple of thousand of people.

The notion of ICE thugs trying to fly aircraft makes my hair stand.

John Jay needed a better press agent (and/or a bigger ego). Few Americans know who he was. And then there is his slave thing. But most of our 'founders' were slave owners. ROOTZ!

"John Jay"–https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Jay

"John Jay (December 23 [O.S. December 12], 1745 – May 17, 1829) was an American statesman, diplomat, signatory of the Treaty of Paris, and a Founding Father of the United States. He served from 1789 to 1795 as the first chief justice of the United States and from 1795 to 1801 as the second governor of New York. Jay directed U.S. foreign policy for much of the 1780s and was an important leader of the Federalist Party after the ratification of the United States Constitution in 1788."

I am shocked. Shocked, I tell you, that these, 100% natural ingredients, weight loss patches being hawked on Facebook and TikTok may not be on the up and up. It is a slur on the good name of Britain's AI generated medical professionals.

======

Guy's and St Thomas' NHS Foundation Trust said that the videos, found on social media platforms like Facebook and TikTok, "falsely claim a number of our clinicians are using and endorsing these products".

The videos, which show doctors applying weight loss patches to their bodies and losing weight over a period of time, appear to be AI-generated, the Trust said, and do not show doctors who work there.

Some company calling itself "National Collector's Mint" is hawking a $0.50 roll of 2026 pennies for the low, low price of $9.95. But hey, they said they *could* sell them for $19 but decided to give people a break.

Y'know what? I think I'll just swing by my credit union and ask them to hold a fresh roll for me. For $0.50.
