Peggy Noonan Doth Not Approve Of Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
Dame Peggy issued her decree on Twitter. It did not go well.
Peggy Noonan watched the State of the Union last night, and though she was overwhelmed with good feelings over Donald Trump's beautiful speech ... she was disappointed by a young upstart in the audience failing to give him his proper due. That whippersnapper? Ms. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, who didn't even clap for him when he spoke so compellingly about the Republican fantasy of infanticide. So rude!

Now, sure. The whole thing about infanticide is totally made up, because it sounds better than "forcing women to give birth to dead babies or non-viable babies that will only live for a few excruciating hours in severe pain." But couldn't AOC just gracefully pretend that Donald Trump was not talking out of his ass? Couldn't she pretend that she, a socialist, thinks socialism is bad? For the sake of bipartisanship? And class? Wouldn't it just be nicer ? He cut to the muscle! THE MUSCLE! On ... things.
Just imagine if AOC had used her usual "spirited, warm and original" demeanor to applaud Donald Trump! Why, it would have been lovely! Everyone would have said, "Wow, guess we were wrong about Donald Trump being the worst!" and then we'd all get along, hold hands across America, and have tea and cake. And people would stop worrying about things like children being separated from their families at the border and never returned, and learn to love the idea of losing their reproductive rights. ALAS. It just doesn't seem like she has any interest at all in doing that.
Why should I be “spirited and warm” for this embarrassment of a #SOTU? Tonight was an unsettling night for our cou… https: //t.co/hqkj7gbcdH

Unfair!
As if that were not bad enough, Ocasio-Cortez appeared on MSNBC after the speech to explain, very clearly, what she felt was wrong with the speech, joined by her guest, Ana Maria Archila -- best known as the sexual assault survivor who persuaded Jeff Flake (in an elevator!) to open an FBI investigation into the sexual assault allegations against Brett Kavanaugh.

Instead of calling for unity, as Dame Peggy would have done, Archila even went into detail explaining exactly how it felt to see an accused sexual predator get a spot on the Supreme Court, making decisions on things that would impact the lives of millions of Americans. How gauche!
Perhaps someday Ocasio-Cortez will understand that it's not actual policy that matters, but the perception that everything is super great and fine. After all, no one would even notice that Donald Trump is saying bad things or doing bad things if people didn't go around reacting to them like they are bad. That's the game, and she must learn to play it! Or people will never love her as they love Peggy Noonan.

"This has been a deeply a-derped speech in terms of policy," is what Peggy Drunk-before-Noon Again meant to one-finger type.
You can say what you want but Peggy has something really nice in her stash. I’m sure she’s got a doctor that leaves a digital copy of the Phsicians desk reference and then he comes back and takes your order. I’m sure Frump gets his Adderoll all chopped up and ready to go. Who needs alchohol? Everybody’s nice when you slur your words like Peggy. She’s been using vocabulary calendars and using the word of the day, all day for like 50 years and never missed a day. Yesterday’s word was Panoply.
