Penn State Trustee Has Thoughts On Sandusky's 'So-Called Victims.' You Won't Like Them!

Last Friday, the former president of Penn State, Graham Spanier, was convicted of one count of child endangerment for having ignored a 2001 report from graduate assistant Mike McQueary that Sandusky was seen naked with a young boy in the showers. Had he perhaps bothered to take action on that, it probably would have prevented a lot of kids from getting molested.

A member of Penn State's trustee board, however, has had it UP TO HERE with all the kids Jerry Sandusky molested, and their darn quest for justice from a system that ignored and betrayed them.

In an email to The Chronicle of Higher Education, Alfred L. Lord, the former chief executive of Sallie Mae, defended Spanier and criticized Sandusky's victims. Whom he referred to as "so-called victims."

"Running out of sympathy for 35 yr old,so-called victimswith 7 digit net worth[...]Do not understand why they were so prominent in trial. As you learned, Graham Spanier never knew Sandusky abused anyone."

Now, I don't think anyone really expects the former Chief Executive of Sallie Mae -- who made his vast riches off of the student debt crisis -- to not be an actual sociopath, or to understand the whole empathy/sympathy thing, but one would think that someone who is 70 or 71 years old would know by now to not say those kinds of things out loud, or write them in an email that you would send to anyone. Or at least one would have thought that, pre-Donald Trump.

What is it, exactly, that makes them "so-called" victims and not actual victims, in Lord's mind? Is it that they are 35 and should just have let it go by now or something? Is it that Sandusky didn't actually do anything to actually victimize them? Is it that they have "7 digit net worths"? It's not really clear here!

Alfred Lord is a very rich person himself -- and twice as old as those 35 year olds. Does that mean that he would be totally fine with letting Jerry Sandusky have his way with him against his will? Is that how this works?

Even if Spanier didn't "know" that Sandusky abused anyone, he still knew that he was hanging out naked in showers with young boys. Which really should have been a red flag! The reason Sandusky was able to continue this for years was because no one did anything about all the red flags, and for that, they should all be held responsible, whether or not that personally annoys Alfred L. Lord.
