We have heard so very much about how mean this country is to rich folks. They are so very considerate of the rest of us, keeping our economy going and investing and spending, instead of just sinking Manhattan and fleeing into space in that Red Bull hot-air balloon. The wealthy folks keep us going, the story goes, and how do we repay them? WITH HIGHER TAXES.
He also said it on the op-ed page of the NY Times a few days ago, with particular reference to "Bobby" Jindal's plan to improve Louisiana's ranking in that table. He's mostly just preaching to the choir, though.
Your Mom has/had Marxist friends? This is the mindset that regrets that FDR won in 1932, averting the final crisis of capitalism and Smedley Butler leading the Bonus Army in a successful revolution.
Try rental car centers at airports. With taxes and fees, the Port of Portland is the worst with close to 40.1% of total fees being paid for the privilege of renting a car to do bidness in the PDX area. Most chicken-shit rental car center is BWI in Baltimore County. They charge you $3.00 for a 2.5 mile bus ride from the rental car center to the airport and visa-versa. For $3 I can go damn near across Baltimore County.
My plan is to move to Vancouver, Washington, which has no state income tax (and the most awesome med pot regs in the US!) and shop across the river in Portland, Oregon, which has no sales tax.
My only problem is getting there from central Texas as I still haven't gotten my truck running or have the money to even buy new shoes. Any 'job creator' can assuage his guilt feelings by a donation for my goal. I doubt any of the job creators feel guilt however.

Would these people paying higher taxes happen to be the same 47% who are takers rather than makers?
Eh, you never can tell.
so many math-y things and numbers here. my lady brain can only focus on heath ledger.
This is a consequence of the same weakness of mind that results in celebrity worship.
Furthermore, this grotesquely regressive taxation is just the sort of tyranny that an armed citizenry would never have to endure.
She is easy on the eyes. If she looked more like a porn star she could be on Fux and not bother using her PhD.
