In Tim's honor, we watched the old made-for-TV version of "IT" over the weekend.
I was a bit surprised to hear the N-word used several times in a "made-for-TV" movie from 1990. It's in the source material but I don't remember anyone using it in the new films.

Uhhhhh ... I'm just a dumb (with a b!) Canadian, and no geographist, but how can someplace be "deep in the heart" of a much larger geographical area, be right on the edge of said larger geographical area, and have a long ass seacoast at the same time?

There was something bad enough happening on Friday the I saw a HeliVac. That's bad.
Turned out it was a toddler who fell into a pond (not swimming!) and his grandma went in to save him. His two older siblings screamed for help.
They both died (child originally, grandmother later).
Turns out that the victims were the son & mother of my daughter's favorite teacher. I made my daughter cry on her first day of school by letting her know.
I'm sure that everyone is familiar with the saying, "Amateurs discuss strategy; professionals discuss logistics". D-Day was a breathtaking display of logistics on a professional level. Hegseth doesn't even rise to amateurism.
But there's more to consider. The biggest mistake is basing one's strategy on ideological rather than tactical grounds. A prime example of that is Stalingrad. Hitler went all in on conquering that city for the simple reason that it was named after his enemy. And he wound up losing an entire army group in the process. Idiot-in-Chief and Hegseth are worse because they don't even have a focused ideology, let alone a coherent strategy. I feel badly for our men and women in uniform.
So help me Sagan but THIS is why I will harbor a vicious, venemous resentment and thoroughly toxic loathing for the malevolent memory of Ron Reagan. Thanks to that capitalist prick drastically defunding state mental hospitals we now deal with ongoing onslaughts from fucking lunatics like THESE.
