Pity the Poor Journalist

We received an email today demanding that we take a long, hard look at " D.C. Wire ," one of theWashington Post's new-fangled weblog-related program activities. Apparently, it's guilty of impersonating a blog without, you know, being updated 10+ times/day with links to 1,000-word semi-literate anti-UN rants and words like "heh" or "indeed" or pictures of the authors' new mountain bikes. In fact, its last update was February 17th. And the natives are getting restless :

3+ days and counting.

They manage to put out a paper every day, even on three day-weekends. Six writers can't manage one posting since mid-day 3 days ago.

First, this is a reported blog containing true facts, not just freeform opinions and ruminations. We like to think of it as quality over quantity (of course, you guys are the final judge). Second, we all have day jobs writing for the daily paper. Third, cut us some slack, it's a three-day weekend...

Uh, David, jeez, we hate to agree with the MSM here, but it's bad enough that thePostmakes its reporters pretend to be bloggers while still having to, like,goto offices and even "call" people to "report" on stuff -- and man, itwasPresident's Day. Do you really wantrealpolitical reporters sitting on laptops all day drawing MS Paint pictures of Dick Cheney? I mean, we do this for a living, but if we had to write about DC council races, you'd be lucky to get two posts a month out of us. And they'd just be about how dumb blog commenters are.
