Typical school district administration. They live on spite and vodka (lower drawer on the left).

I just got a chance to read these and it's so delightful and funny. I want to hear more from Young Mr. Robinson. He's got ideas!

My high school sophomore is similarly peeved about losing a week of winter break. But, I was relieved my kindergartener was happy to go back yesterday as the beginning of the school year was really tough for him. And of course, I'm elated I now only have one job during the day to do badly instead of two. :)

My oldest asked for a mental health day today. They’ve been back at school one day since the week-long Thanksgiving break. For the record, I said no.

"at least they reached a compromise on who’d bring the doughnuts and from where."

Voodoo, obviously.

Bel-Ami's avatar

Voodoo is for the tourists. There are better doughnuts in, and around, town (personally I love Blue Star and Mikiko).

Ruththecatlady's avatar

Blue star is good. Haven't heard of Mikiko, though.... things to try!!!!

Angel on Alberta is my personal fave

Adding it to my list to try!

i'm surprised they have been teaching at all since Portland was completely razed to the ground and rendered a smoldering hellscape with roving cannibal gangs. very brave of them!

Hilarious, SER. Thank you.

Are the kids going to have to maneuver around the burning ANTIFA riots that have been going on non-stop since George Floyd was murdered? How do you live in that hellscape Faux "News" keeps spanking like a random weenie?

They go to *public* school, no one cares. Heck, they probably have classes in Rioting, Looting and General Mayhem along with their Woke Studies and Not Real 'Murriken His'try.

I served under General Mayhem in Kommie Skool comrade!

I encourage your son to seek legal redress. Lol

The right of access to the courts is sacred. :D

This is one reason we moved from Portland.

Anti-Social Socialist's avatar

Because you hate it when teachers fight for what's best for them and their students?

skinnercitycyclist's avatar

Or because the people running the district are clueless asswholes who wouldn't know adolescent psychology if it bit them on their 8-hour days.

The school bus stop in from Mt of our house picked up kids at about 20 AM yesterday.

Beanz&Berryz's avatar

Such a short post. So many typos. I was headed to fix them then hit post by accident. In front of our house. 10 not 20. And 10 is about 1.5 hours later than usual. Middle School kids.

Yeesh. Reminds me of the Trolley Problem, New Gilded Age edition:

Oh, sweet children, just wait until you become an adult and discover there are no days off. Ever.

suziq's avatar

I am a Retired now! It is like summer vacation all the time, especially since I have a house in Mexico for the cold months. 10/10 highly recommend.

Satanic Pancake's avatar

There are plenty of days off. They’re called death, the only thing left to look forward to as an adult.

bluePNWcats's avatar

Well, don't Pollyanna it up for us. Be frank about how you feel 😂

Wait until they learn of "unlimited PTO" -- the biggest employment bait and switch since "Right to work".

Shocktreatment's avatar

There will be a handful of students making up the time...

They won't be a bit bitter and will be grateful for the opportunity!

Of course the teachers are overjoyed as well...

SkeptiKC's avatar

I doubt we'll be hearing much rejoicing.

PrimerGray's avatar

The fact that teachers have to strike at all is disheartening.

Won't someone think of the children‽‽‽‽‽‽
