Ironic that he had the service members swear an oath that he himself will not uphold.

He should know better than to go to a Commanders game. DC does NOT LIKE HIM. We wouldn't piss on him if his heart was fire.

Shutdown Thoughts, Tuesday morning edition:

So as I was listening to a Dem house speaker berating the un-great eight on their capitulation, a possible rationale occurred to me {bear with me; harrumph}. So the Dems cave, but they extract a 'promise' from GOP leadership on a separate vote on the healthcare subsidies. They can then play this up and make it front and center. Then, come mid-December, either the vote doesn't happen or if it does, the GOP publicly tanks the subsidies as a distinct item. This is potentially even more toxic to their electoral prospects come midterm elections.

So, the idea might be, lose the battle but win the war, or some such.

Seem plausible? Don't take any of the above as endorsement of their votes, mind. I'm just speculating as to motive (and/or rationalizing).

Same thought. Plus, a House vote would (I think?) require Grihalva being sworn in, wherein she’ll immediately sign the petition to release the Epstein files, wherein more hell will break loose - seemingly to the Dems benefit.

Who knows…

"I, _____, do solemnly swear (or affirm) that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same..." This is part of the oath Trump read to new recruits at the football game, very similar to the Presidential Oath of Office. Reminds me of how Trump continues to violate it daily.

One of the funnier jokes in that Naked Gun movie was how the stadium was named Ponzi Scheme dot com Stadium and they just sort of showed it in the background so were actually a little subtle for a change.

It made me lol an even the spawn got the ref of the naming after crypto an whatever for a year until they go belly up and then selling the name to the next scam.

What I am getting at: the NFL is used to naming shit after scamsters and con artists, so one more won't make a difference. Also, WTF does the owner get to keep the cash from naming rights when the citizens of a given place are usually the ones ponying up to have the stupid thing built in the first place?

Toomush's Dad (and two of his three brothers), WWII. His other brother, Korea. Mom (Naval Intelligence) and three of her brothers, WWII. Her other brother, Korea. One of Dad's brothers was a Medic in three major landings, had a book written about him called "I've Closed Too Many Eyes". One of Mom's brothers, whose ship was sunk at Pearl Harbor, was listed as dead, and came back home a year after his funeral. Toomush? I spent part of Vietnam in Tacoma, Washington, helping GI's at Fort Lewis make the trip to Vancouver...

My pops dropped out of high school at 15 and lied about his age to join the airforce. And they took him, but before he served his regular time they made him go through what we'd call GED class and finish out his diploma XD Also for years, his listed age was three years older than his actual age, a thing that did not get rectified til they started insisting on birth certs for errything (70s maybe? Was before my time so I don't exactly know what the correcting event was) and he had to show his "announcement" and have his mom vouch for his actual birthdate since he was borned at home. The state was much harder to please than the airforce was.

He did not see combat though, he was an airplane electrician in greenland for his entire term

I got about 3/4 of the way through the first one, had to give up, I have seldom been so bored in a movie. I seem to be lacking the action movie gene. Car chash, shoot out, martial arts battle - that's when I go for a pee.

Real life (maybe) -- someone posted on NextDoor the other day that they had just walked out of the grocery store and sat down in their car and pulled something out of the grocery bag to eat because they were hungry. They said they noticed some lady staring at them, then walking around the poster's car with their phone, taking pictures of them and their license plate.

People are ruder every day.
