I got to see Madeleine Albright's broch collection when it was on tour and I bought the book. It's a very interesting and beautiful story of her time as Clinton's Secretary of State and the messages her broches sent -- https://www.amazon.com/Read...

I won't be playing this song for Bezos any time soon. He knew what he was doing when he cheated on his wife with his next-door neighbor and his wife didn't take enough money from him:

Oh, Bezos is a supreme ass. When you fuck with bathroom breaks, you fuck with the health of your workforce, whether they work directly for you, or you have a temp agency between you.

Hey everybody, remember Norm Coleman? Who was a senator from Minnesota until Al Franken sent him packing? He used to be Mayor of Saint Paul, and I worked IT for the city during that time. He was terrible at "labor relations", bringing each union to the brink of a strike before folding like a thrift store lawn chair. Anyway, *my* bargaining unit was up for negotiations, and since I was the IT team's HR/Payroll expert, I was asked to be in on management's meetings regarding the new contract. I had to remind them that, as a member of that bargaining unit, sitting in on their meetings and doing "consulting" for them would be a serious conflict of interest. They had to do without the services of the IT team altogether. One the very day of the strike, management collapsed like a souffle in an earthquake, and we got everything we wanted. All under the "leadership" of our Norm Coleman.

Btw, we nicknamed the Mayor's Office "Lotus Land", 'cause that's where you go to forget.

Best photo ever of the queen is her, as princess, in army fatigues fixing a jeep. During the war of course.

Tom Cruise yelling at Brooke Shields for taking anti-depressants showed me that, but I 'm older than Leah.

When Julia Louis-Dreyfus announced, on Twitter, that she had breast cancer, she made sure to mention the great healthcare she had, courtesy of her union, & also made it a point to note her good fortune & the fact that so many others are so much less fortunate. That was an exceedingly classy move.

According to Michelle's memoir, the Queen hit it off really well with the Obamas and at one point when the four of them piled into the royal Land Rover at one of their holiday houses, protocol demanded that Michelle should sit up front with Prince Phillip who was driving while she sat in back with Barack. She insisted that, no, Michelle must sit in the back so they could chat together. Apparently the Queen was quite taken with Michelle's impromptu and protocol-defying hug when they first met.

The network I work for is trying to keep us Patient Navigators out of the union that represents much of the workplace. I decree that they will fail, and I'll be a union maid.

If you need any help or advice, I was a union organizer in my younger days, and a local union officer in middle age. I know a few ins and outs which might be helpful, AND I would be delighted to help out in my retirement and dotage. Solidarity forever, and mazeltov. I am presently trying to record a CD (as a one-man band named I.C.E.B.U.R.G., International Conspiracy to Eliminate, Battle, and Undermine Rightwing Government (believe it or not, I came up with that when I was fifteen years old)), but since I am on no deadline, I am available to take a break from it any time I may be of assistance. Above all, be careful. Even non-profits can be viciously ruthless.

I’m going to give you the benefit of the doubt and go with the assumption you are mentioning this for historical context, not that you are creating a false equivalence between 90-year old labor organizers and today’s BLM protesters and Democratic Socialists. Because that’s exactly what trolls, the right-wing media and the bad faith GOP would do.

I mentioned it because it's a little-known fact that African Americans were integral to labor organizing during the Depression, which is when orgaized labor made its biggest gains in America, and the piece discusses organizing in Alabama, which is 28% black. Not sure why you mentioned that other stuff. I made no intimation, even, of anything else. Find the doc, and watch it. It's good.

As I said, I mention it because it's exactly the tactics the "Democrats started the KKK" crowd uses routinely. Messaging is everything nowadays; if facts can be twisted to support someone's bad-faith argument, they will be. The initial message was just a bare statement about black communist union organizers, which could easily be taken out of context. Your follow-up post provided that context.

It's pretty accurate at this point, alas. When I grew up near Harrisburg, the state was kind of New England-adjacent; but I left in 1983 and don't recognize the place now :((
