I've disliked the GOP intensely for at least the past 15 years, and probably longer than that, but the way they are acting now is just insane. It's like a bunch of angry mental asylum escapees took over the governance of the US.

I had to laugh when that anonymous memo came out today where someone said they worked for Trump, but they were part of the Resistance. I couldn't help but think it was General Kelly. He may be a racist, old shitbag, but he's not a treasonous old racist shitbag.

The other thing about the GOP is that they're making me think about them every goddamned day, if not every hour. I didn't like Bush or Cheney, but I wasn't terrified of them. I am TERRIFIED of Trump and Pence, and I'm sickened that Republicans like Miss Lindsey are just letting them indulge all of their worst impulses. It's shameful at the least, and maybe even treasonous.

I can't wait for all of these assholes to get voted out of office, and/or, just drop dead.

Thanks, again. I just call it a rant because it's long and angry, because Republicans irritate me.

The debt/deficit is entirely a Republican thing. They undertax the rich and overspend on the military and corporate welfare every time they control an electoral cycle, running huge deficits as a result. Then, when they're the minority again, they start screaming about how Democrats spend too much money, would you look at the debt forchristssake?11?!!11 They've also found it useful to blur the distinction between deficit and debt and use the terms interchangeably.

They control spending cuts by deliberately starving public/social programs of revenue until they cease to function properly when they're in power, then demand that those be the things that get cut from budgets to reduce the debt when the Democrats are in power, using those programs' poor function as the reason.

Of course, the Democrats do deserve some blame for all this, because they keep putting up with it, and letting the GOP off scot free despite its constant chicanery and shenanigans. Hopefully, Democratic politicians will wake up with the coming cycles and realize that if they continue to show the GOP that it can act with impunity, it will continue to do so. Trump is a yuuuge hook, and if the Democrats let the GOP off that one, we're looking at single-party fascist rule sooner than later. The GOP has already shown that there is absolutely no limit to what it'll do for power.
