Ah yes, the sign we drive by on the way back into town. Here's how that be (ask an atheist... because I'm lazy and don't feel like looking up CDOT signage regulations again):

"You do not see highway signs for other churches or faith-based organizations, so what makes Focus on the Family different? In the state of Colorado, private organizations can apply for highway signs by proving that they are a tourist attraction. According to the Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT), “Privately owned businesses wishing to participate must derive the major portion of their income from visitors not residing in the immediate area.”http://kaleenamenke.blogspo...

Also how neo-Nazis get to sponsor a section of highway in Colorado:http://www.westword.com/new...

Neat, huh? Which is why our non-paid volunteer work gets so much more difficult when "progressives" partner with far right fundie fascists: http://www.talk2action.org/...

And why I'll continue to complain about that "progressive"- libertarian alliance undermining the Democratic Party until I drop dead:)

Edited excerpt from Monty Python's "Python Panel" (originally printed in one of their books--the faux-feces-smeared The Brand New Monty Python Papperbok, I believe):

VICE-POPE: Oh. Well our main worry at this stage is intra-marital sex.PYTHON: Oh. Sex within the marriage.VICE-POPE: Oh yes! You see, it’s within marriage, people tend to forget, that most of this carnal knowing takes place.PYTHON: But that isn’t wrong from a Catholic point of view?VICE-POPE: Well, actually... it is. Yes. I mean we don’t often come straight out with it because our problem is that...like it or not, sex, at this moment in time, is still the best method we’ve got of reproducing ourselves. I mean we certainly recommend virgin births where possible, but we can’t rely on them, so for purely practical reasons we’ve been forced to turn a blind eye to intra-marital sex for the time being. But only of course for outnumbering purposes; not for fun.KRASZT: Which is why you will not allow any form of contraception.VICE-POPE: Exactly.FRAMPTON: But you allow the rhythm method!VICE-POPE: Ah, but only because it doesn’t work.PYTHON: But are you not worried that the population explosion may lead to greater poverty, disease and eventually war?VICE-POPE: Well you must remember, our concern is for the next world. So the quicker we can get people there the better.

The GOP and those even further right hate sex and don't really give a damn about women or children. It parallels the way they give empty lip service to caring about our military, while screwing military families, like cutting food assistance etc.

We're under the tyranny of the new ignorant prudish Puritans.

At this point, I think the question needs to be asked: Are all Republicans sadists and sociopaths? Or is it just a plurality and the rest goes along because they think they'll get a tax cut out of it?

I think what we have here is a tell: They say they just want abortion to go away. But when abortion starts going away, we see that they are not happy. They are not happy because this thing that they hate is going away because of an increase in that other thing that they hate, but are mostly too canny to publicly declare war on: contraceptives.
