It should be noted that religious freedom was part of colonial state laws before the US Constitution was written.

The Virginia Statute for Religious Freedom is a statement about both freedom of conscience and the principle of separation of church and state. Written by Thomas Jefferson and passed by the Virginia General Assembly on January 16, 1786, it is the forerunner of the first amendment protections for religious freedom.

I hung out with Quakers for a couple years, finding Sunday grace and understanding in their presence. I learned from them to not speak unless you feel led to speak. If Quakers are speaking now it is because of a strong leading aligned with their beliefs. AI generated this suprisingly accurate description of Quaker beliefs: Quakers believe that everyone has access to God and that all people are equal in worth. They believe that God can be found in everyday life and relationships, and that people should live in a way that reflects their faith.

So hospitals are okay to invade and kidnap people? Does that mean if an undocumented person is in an accident and is taken to the hospital and staff are operating on them to save their life that ICE will just waltz into the operating theatre and take them away? Maybe before their wounds are closed? And of course they would have no problem moving someone who is in quarantine because, as we all learned from the "brilliant" Pete Hegseth, germs are not real?

I love this as I am currently reading Edward Rutherfurd's novel, "New York". I am at the early 1770's part, on the cusp of the American Revolution as experienced in NYC, which the Quakers are most present.
