Rachel Maddow took a trip to the Man Cave (or the green screen version of one) Wednesday night to debunk a deeply held article of faith about one form of birth control that could be outlawed if Colorado passes its third try at a "personhood amendment." Abortion opponents also want to ban a whole bunch of contraceptives, and they say that intrauterine devices(IUDs) have to go because they're abortifacients. They aren't, but the notion is also near and dear to the heart of Colorado Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob Beauprez. So why the trip to the mancave? Turns out, guys, the IUD is just hell on sperms, as a doctor lady from the University of Colorado Hospital explains in this video. So no, a lady with an IUD in her innards is not a walking abortionplex.
Best part of the vid has nothing to do with IUDs or ladyparts or politics. It's Rachel inviting the manly men in the viewing audience to "balance the remote on your belly like an otter." Our appreciation of this woman -- or her writing staff? -- grows daily.
Rachel Maddow Does Science To Rightwing Myths About IUDs (Video)
Maddow's aborting the stoopidity!
Plus she said, "Man, I'm not a scientist...."
So explain to me one more time why contraceptives are such a bad thing for mommy and shouldn't be funded by the AHC but a penis pump for daddy is completely deductible under the AHC?
Beauprez (which sounds very Duck Commanderish) ain't nothing when compared to abortion-hating - Rush Limbaugh clone candidate for Texas Lt. Governor Dan Patrick. Sad thing is this inverted puss bag will be elected. But it will be good for Florida and Oklahoma because Texas will return to No. 1 status in derp, which will create more jobs for tee-vee broadcasters.
