Look, I'm sorry, but if she is going to present such a vigorous preamble bringing viewers up to speed on the proceedings without once alluding to Willis's affair with Nathan Wade and it's impact on the trial delays, then all we're left with here is a couple of lawyers backslapping each other. Not interested. I'm tired of this babe-in-the-woods shit. Who the fuck did these two think she was dealing with, the Boy Scouts? This is the GOP. Lee Atwater's party. Shit, Roger Stone is still alive! They've been running the SAME PLAYBOOK for 50 years. They should have known they's pull every single thing they did and go up her ass with a microscope. And if she didn't know, she was too naive to be given the case in the first place. This has nothing to do with her gender or skin color. God DAMN it, man! Didn't she know that stupid fling was all they'd need to put her, and this trial, in EXACTLY this position? FUCK!!!!!

Exactly. This is my problem with it entirely. It's an unforced error. And then, IMO, she compounded the problem by letting her anger at the investigation get the best of her when she was questioned. And Wade made it worse by trying to play games and "forget" everything. You want to make an unforced error? Fine. It happens. They're human. But don't make it worse by getting self-righteous and acting like you have something to hide. Fall on the sword, admit the error, and then make the honest case for why it should have absolutely no bearing on the work. But they took the opposite tack in being as combative and unlikeable as possible to suggest to those who were already looking for an excuse to dismiss their work with some justification in doing so.

All the DAs, like Willis, and the judges like Engoron and Merchan and Special Counsel, Jack Smith, deserve something more than respect. They deserve to be revered as heroes who sacrificed their own personal lives, their relative anonymity and even their safety to speak truth and bring justice to the biggest threat to our democracy we’ve known since the Civil War. History will remember this era as a very close call, a brush with near totalitarianism had Trump succeeded at stopping Biden from entering the White House despite losing the election convincingly. Had Trump found the right lever to pull, the right call to make, the right method to subvert the transfer of power, our democratic system as we know it could have collapsed. The people putting their own lives on hold while Trump continues to abuse the system to delay accountability will be remembered and should be honored for refusing to accept his unprecedented actions.

The fact that Fani Willis has to stand alone to defend herself from Donald and his crooked lackeys is appalling as fuck.

It’s wild that no one wants to defend the rule of law, our constitution, and our Democracy from these fascist fucks.

We are witnessing in real time the power of racism to aid and abet fascism.

The former NEEDS the latter to divide people who might -- hopefully, would -- unite in defense of democracy for all

We’ve all grown a bit numb to Republican corruption. It’s both relentless and in our faces.

The truly discouraging thing is it’s very popular with their voters, and members of the media like Hannity, Katy Tur, Maggie Habermwn and their bosses.

I get that our voters are tired. I’m going to vote. I’ll see to knocking doors for local and state candidates. But it is exhausting because of how relentless the corruption is and how unaccountable Trump and his enablers are.

I guess I wouldn't class Tur with Hannity or Haberman even at that. But YMMV

I wish Maddow would deliver that message on CNN or the News Hour or any platform other than MSNBC, where her audience will not see it.

I understand what you mean. I'm a streamer and don't watch MSNBC normally. She needs to get this out to a broader audience other than hard-core, steadfast MSNBC viewers.

I simply refuse to back down to these aggressive Rethuglicon bullies. There's no way in hell that I'm going to give them the satisfaction of evoking any discernible fear from me. All that I'm inclined to offer those petulant, pretentious, patronizing and patriarchal insipid pricks is a cold shoulder...or a swift kick to their diminutive dangly bits.

Again I give the side-eye to those Georgians who were able to deliver victories for Biden, Warnock and Ossoff but decided to screw Stacey Abrams over to help Brian Kemp. And as expected Kemp signed these laws. So I better not hear any complaints from them if these efforts to destroy Fani Willis and the case against President Klan Robe end up bearing fruit.

Fani Willis is awesome and definitely is a hell of a survivor.

Warnock ran against Herschel Walker in 2022.

Neither Biden nor Trump were on the ballot. I wonder how it affected turnout versus 2020?

White and Asian voters are the most consistent group of voters. Older white voters are the most consistent voters in the country. White voters, especially older white voters, mostly vote for Republicans.

Edit: Kemp was re-elected in 2022.

Yes and Abrams ran against Kemp. She should've won there if they were capable of delivering victories for Warnock, Ossoff and Biden. (And if I recall correctly, since both GA Senate seats were open in 2020, one as a special, that was why Warnock had to run again and won.) If they did all that they should've been able to do that for Abrams too is my point.

The best and bravest thing about Maddow over the last year is that her stories are often grounded in her recent study of fascism's attempt to take over the U.S. in the 1930's during Hitler's rise to power. She gives her insightful and factual lecture of congress members and priests and oligarchs lying and cheating to destroy American democracy while escaping arrest and jail by intimidation and violence...and then shows how this story is being repeated TODAY. Her on-air essays combine her PhD background with the practice of journalism. Last night's show was in my mind one of her best.

“... that’s really authoritarian playbook 101, to try to find something legitimate, no matter how minor, to serve as a pretext for destroying their enemies...”

It’s this exactly.

Said it before, will repeat: you could bring a 2,000 page perfectly documented report on the démagogue’s various criminal schemes. Lackeys like Gaetz and Jordan would grandstand endlessly on how the paperclip binding it wasn’t made in the US... Whether or not it actually were...

... and many of the media and your fellow citizens being suckers for repeated big lies would eat it from their hands and amplify it endlessly, endless noise about and coverage of ‘paperclipgate’ entirely crowding out the reality of dear leader’s actual personal involvement in the modern slave trade and selling plutonium to domestic Nazi terror cells.

And one of the things that helps them too is their vast rightwing media human centipede, which also has some of its segments in the so-called liberal media. They wouldn't be able to get away with denying reality otherwise.

Demean and denigrate a Black woman is as easy as breathing. See Kamala Harris. The good old boys in Georgia and Washington DC now are no different than they were 100 years ago. The same gathering of resources and energy to allow the corruption to continue forever. Fani Willis is particularly galling for them. There's not a Tim Scott bone in her body.

BTW, the 3 stooges on MSNBC this morning, Meandrea, Katy, and Chris, covered this interview but only in the context that it probably wasn't a good idea for her to have done the interview. I'm not sure they listened to the context of Rachel's interview. Jumping on the good old boys' wagon wasn't a good look.
