hahahaha that's TOTALLY me. i bought in ravenswood in 1997 and i can't afford to live in my (darling 1903) house anymore. we have SO much work to do and we can't afford to fix anything.

i'm thinking of cashing out and getting a condo and it breaks my heart (not least b/c i've got 5 cats buried in the backyard)

I suspect it’s an age thing. And God love Dom for stirring the pot. Young punk.

Rahm has a lot of faults but he’s more a Democrat than most of the opposition are Republicans.

I even know artists in Ravenswood, although I think they bought before the trend line advanced that far west...

Ravenswood? So just down the street from Blago and Papadopoulos...? Used to be such a nice quiet neighborhood...

Last comment-I despise Dan Lipinski Jr. Wasn’t too thrilled about his old man either but at least Senior was on transportation committee. Would I vote for Dan? Not in a primary but yes in the general.

Peteywheats, I tried to look up other comments you have made but can’t track them down. Are you consistent in your “don’t hate people within our own party who actually want to improve America rather than the Fascists who are currently in control” philosophy? What is your attitude toward Rahm anything other than fuming and hating members of our own party?

Like I said above, Rahm knows how to win elections. How to manage a multi-billion dollar city government not so much.

A further comment on some of the Purity Ponies (thanks again) Many seem to have the attitude in parallel with Tea Partiers that political experience = selling out = disqualification. Is this how they’d choose a job candidate to work for them? A doctor or lawyer?

Purity Ponies! Thanks! I previously called them Progressive Purity Police but I am stealing yours now!

I suspect the “I want perfection right now” gang are afraid their attention span won’t allow them to work for the greater good over a lengthy process.

And yet I’m the one with ADHD...

Right back atcha. Look, even if one person calls for a minimum wage of $15 and the other calls for a minimum wage of $12 with later increases as they can be achieved, they still want to push in the same direction. This isn't hard. I could explain it to seven-year-olds and they'd feel insulted that I even felt the need to explain.
