Need a new candidate? What about the guy with the awesome facial hair who kept saying the rent is too damn high? I'd vote for him if I lived in New York.

Who the fuck doesn't see what Cuomo really is, an opportunistic and toxic narcissist who can't stand not being in the limelight? What a cockroach. I used to love his daily "we can do this" speeches during the 2020 lockdown until I learned that he didn't mind killing off elderly people in nursing homes in order to show he was "in control" of the pandemic in NY. He also turned out to be a sexual harasser and basically, someone who was widely despised for his obnoxious personality and for being a bully.

Backing this asswipe for mayor just shows how pathetic the Democratic party has become.

Problem is, Adams (like Demented Donnie Dipshit) monopolizes the news to such an extent that few New Yorkers have ever even heard of the other candidates. I pay more attention than most, and Stringer is the only one I know anything about* ... and that's only because he got reasonable media attention before Adams came along to suck all the oxygen out of the room.

AOC should run, I get the fight she's putting up in the house, but she would make a damn fine mayor of the greatest city in the US.

California's Newsom and New York's Cuomo are two governors who should be sent on s long walk on a short pier.

Why Newcom?

Newsom has started a podcast. So far he's had right-winger Charlie Kirk on and will have far right winger Michael Savage on. He seems to have turned MAGA.

New York City seems to pick exclusively freaks for mayor but then again Toronto often does as well, so I don’t know if this is a big city thing or maybe it’s an eastern thing?

Anyway good luck with all that!

It’s so depressing how many gross people end up in politics. And then to pop up again and again?

There are so many good energetic passionate caring NORMAL people out there, but they’re not going to run for office. why would they want to end up in that snake pit? So their opponent can run a disinformation campaign against them and ruin their life?

I f’ing hate how awful it all is.

Best hope in WI is that a majority of voters know this, and don't like it. Elmo is not wildly popular, even among the MAGA moron set.

I'm a cyclist. We really don't need bike lanes as long as there's a wide shoulder. I also have an ebike, and they really need to crack down on the scofflaws on those.

In NYC, there is no "shoulder" ... the bike lanes make it possible to get around with less mortal danger.

I get both sides of the cycler coin; cars stop for me in the middle of heavy traffic (trying, but not helpful) and assholes screaming at me to get off the road. Mostly it's a pleasant ride on my way about my business.

The one thing of value I learned from the former Mrs. πŸ¦‘πŸ„πŸ was that β€œI’m sorry you were offended by that thing I did” is not actually an apology.

I will ne'er understand the reasoning behind the contrasting requirements for specific sets of skills, training and/or academic accomplishment for even the simplest positions vs. fuck all for elected political office.

Ta, Marcie. Some of you know that back when I was freelancing at law firms, I had a very long term gig at a politically connected boutique firm. Our offices also housed NYC's Liberal Party. The firm was set up by the senior partner so Mario Cuomo would have a place to practice if he lost election. The partner for whom I worked and I had a great rapport; he was a former child actor and one of the few men who appreciated my brainpower. Everything was peachy until the original senior partner retired, and Andrew Cuomo left Morgenthau's office to work with us. Everything went to shit quickly. Andrew HATED one of the legal secretaries, who had worked for "her" partner for ages; following him from one firm to the other. She was best friends with the junior partner's secretary and the junior partner was dating Andrew. He was determined to drive a wedge through their friendship, and decided the office should be rearranged to his liking. "My" partner came to me and quite sheepishly asked if I'd mind if my desk was moved. I said that as long as I had a working computer and a working phone, they could put me in a closet for all I cared.

Well, Andrew came in over the weekend with the kid who did our photocopying and took our mail to the post office, and moved all our stuff. I don't know about you, but I b, elieve it's no man's business what vitamins I took or what brand of tampons I used. The stress got so bad that I, always the picture of health, developed spastic colon. My doctor, of blessed memory, was able to diagnose it instantly. Unfortunately, his healing skills weren't up to par with his diagnostic skills; he prescribed a mild tranquilizer, which made me depressed. I stopped taking it. The junior partner's secretary gave me a natural solution. It worked, but I couldn't work there anymore, and turned in my notice. Mario, Mathilda, and Chris (who was 14 at the time and only cared about basketball) were all lovely people, but Andrew was a POS. During COVID, I did appreciate his getting on TV and telling us what was happening, but I was unsurprised when he turned out to be a right SOB. I know a couple of women who plan on voting for him in the primary "because he was never charged with or convicted of anything." I hope both he and Adams lose bigly. Should AC win that primary, I'll vote for him rather than whatever Republican runs, but I'll do so while holding my nose.

This country never learns. When a president is voted out for being a colossal piece of shit who let a global pandemic run roughshod over the populace because the truth would make him look bad and advised dumbasses to inject bleach, YOU DON’T VOTE THE FUCKER BACK IN. When a governor similarly fails during the same fucking pandemic, in addition to also being a sex pest, and is ousted, YOU DON’T VOTE THE FUCKER BACK IN. What’s with all the apparent COVID-era nostalgia with even considering bringing back both these assholes? Is it amnesia, or nihilism?
