“We exist, we deserve respect,” is not a contemptuous culture war. This hateful behavior is no different than the hostile nations that “ban” homosexuality and even murder and imprison violators. It’s why Republicans for decades have tried to characterize homosexuality as mental illness, to dismiss people and deny basic rights, and they are doing the same with trans people. Because if there is one thing healthy minds like Ken Paxton’s know, it’s which people are acceptable and which people are not. He and those like him will not tolerate schools accepting gender identity, pronouns or anything else that frightens them or makes them uncomfortable.
In Texas, you need to bring your birth certificate, an original true copy, to class every year on the first day and agree to respond respectfully to whatever the teacher decides you should be called. It’s the American way. None of this hanky panky designed to let boys break all the girls’ school sports records by wearing a wig and shaving their legs. Ken Paxton knows what is really going on here. How is that guy not in prison again?
'That guy who shouldn't have had guns, but had a bunch, and used them to wipe out a classroom of 7 year olds? Well, we checked his manifesto and can confirm that he didn't have an agenda to racially redefine gender. So, he gets a statue in Downtown Austin'
You know, is Texas just so free of actual crime and legal concerns that Ken Paxton really doesn't have anything better to do than trying to get the medical records of Texans getting medical services in other states and tracking women's menstrual cycles?
You'd think his own criminal problems might require just a little bit of attention.
This is the power afforded to unreconstructed Republicans in these unreconstructed states. The barriers are high but we must fight hard. We owe it to the vulnerable among us to not give up.
Can anyone tell me what the fuck that actually means? Possibly that she meant to say “radically” but her subconscious knew that linking anything to racism was a winning strategy to her deplorables.
A group of people need to get together and sue Paxton and the st as te of Texas for violating their constitutional rights to pursue life, liberty and happiness.
Can we just give all the kids puberty blockers so they can spend more time learning and less time pubertying? Let them figure themselves out as a human and then later unleash that hormonal nightmare, once they’ve learned a bit more about the world.
This is probably a terrible idea with tons of unintended consequences. I’m not a doctor.
I do wish I’d had access to bc pills earlier so I could have better skin and a regular (or skipped) period. Plus, regulating that ovulation in college helped me focus on fluid mechanics and not the >90% dick-possessing population in my major.
And also, after going off bc to get ready for baby-making, I had difficulty working. Hormones. Hormones said “bone that human” “ooh nice pants” “ovulation! find a dick!” Someone asked if I’d met the new hire one day. “The one with nice pants?” was my response. Did not notice his face. Ovulating.
Not the first time. The founders specifically designed the courts to be weaponized against anyone but straight white rich men. Post-war to Reagan, when we had strong Democratic majorities in both houses, a Democrat in the White House, and a liberal-leaning Supreme Court, was an aberration in the overall way the courts have worked.
"Liberty" for these folks begins and ends with the freedom to drive an 8-ton gas-guzzling pickup and to walk into the local Walmart strapped with two AR15s and a couple of Glocks.
Yeah, that's really the part they care most about.
“Conservatism consists of exactly one proposition, to wit: There must be in-groups whom the law protects but does not bind, alongside out-groups whom the law binds but does not protect.”
If you believe this is how the world is supposed to be ordered, it conveniently makes room for your hypocrisy and all your inherent biases and hatreds, while you still get to decide how everyone else gets to live their lives.

Ta, Dok. Trans rights are human rights. Treating ANYONE as less than human is despicable and should be illegal in any case.

These people are such ghouls.

“ aims to racially redefine sex and gender."
What? How do you “racially redefine sex?”
Kerosene? What century is this?
“…racially redefine sex and gender."
Can anyone tell me what the fuck that actually means? Possibly that she meant to say “radically” but her subconscious knew that linking anything to racism was a winning strategy to her deplorables.
"Racially redefine sex and gender"? Huh?
A group of people need to get together and sue Paxton and the st as te of Texas for violating their constitutional rights to pursue life, liberty and happiness.
How about suing Paxton for being a corrupt piece of shit since the state of Texas has no desire to hold him accountable?
I guess they'd be happy if they didn't have to take any more of our dirty, sinful money.
Do them all a favor and cut them the fuck off. Tell them it's so they won't get in trouble with Jesus.

"Dumb as a Foxx," is the new cliche´.
The Courts have indeed been weaponized against anyone but straight white rich men

How are these anti-trans laws not an infringement on people's right to liberty?
You’re assuming they consider trans people to be people.
"Liberty" for these folks begins and ends with the freedom to drive an 8-ton gas-guzzling pickup and to walk into the local Walmart strapped with two AR15s and a couple of Glocks.
You left out to right to abuse marginalized groups with zero puahback of any form.
Yeah, that's really the part they care most about.

They don’t care
"that aims to racially redefine sex and gender."
is that just a typo, or more of a Freudian slip?
Wondering about that, too.
