Biden came out yesterday to tell hurricane vics to PLEASE listen to local officials and say his administration is offering unconditional help. Then he called out Trump by name for his ridiculous

hurricane lies, then he came back to the podium when a reporter asked the question, "Mr. President, why do you think Trump is doing this?"

Biden, because he's decent to the core, said "I don't know why, it's crazy, it's un American."

Biden does know, of course, but Trump, being a fountain of evil, is like an alien to him.

Also probably best not to publicly speculate because nothing Biden can say will actually make Trump stop, nor really turn MAGA away, so it's pointless.

// The real winner might be a guy who replied, “I didn't think they could control the weather until you guys started saying they can't. You guys lie about everything. So that means they can.” //

I dunno -- if PAB told me there was no secret base on the dark side of the Moon where humanity conducts talks with extrasolar intelligences, I might consider that it really does exist, since everything he says is a lie. But I'd probably dismiss it as a fantasy since to my knowledge the technology to maintain a moonbase just isn't there yet.

Trump is not coherent enough to always lie, he might occasionally accidentally tell the truth.

We could have a moonbase easy, the mortality rate is going to be very high there though. But if you through enough money and bodies at it, at some point one of them will survive for multiple years, and then you can say you have a populated moonbase.

For the sake of sounding like a Republican, Edwards did say Homeland Security Secretary Alejandro Mayorkas’s request for additional disaster funding for the rest of the hurricane season was “an irresponsible attempt to politicize a tragedy for personal gain,

Oh yes, the personal gain of "helping out other people as they are whacked with fucking hurricanes"

Edwards was thisssss close to almost having me retract my "yes, ALL Republicans" stance. This close.

Technically Mayorka seems to be asking for funds to help with Milton when the funds for Milton are sufficient. Hairsplitting, but technically a fair point.

Perhaps a worse aspect to consider about Edwards doing this is that you know, you just know, it's not because he values and takes responsibility for informing his constituents; it's because his office is being overwhelmed by raving, spittle-flecked demands from his constituents to DO SOMETHING about Kamala hurricane control, and the fascist FEMA stormtroopers, and all the rest.

Also: “I didn't think they could control the weather until you guys started saying they can't. You guys lie about everything. So that means they can.” This is precisely the objective of the fascists. Stolen from another Wonker:

German historian and philosopher Hannah Arendt said, "This constant lying is not aimed at making the people believe a lie, but at ensuring that no one believes anything anymore. A people that can no longer distinguish between truth and lies cannot distinguish between right and wrong. And such a people, deprived of the power to think and judge, is, without knowing and willing it, completely subjected to the rule of lies. With such a people, you can do whatever you want."

Whoever on the right, the extreme right, may have decided to tell the truth about Hurricane Helene, it sure ain't anybody on The Federalist. Scumbag Eddie Scarry is bagging everybody who points out that the disinformation (not disinformation, lies, lies, LIES) about the Biden administration denying aid to political foes. Among them is, in Scarry's deathless words, "White House press secretary and voodoo doll Karine Jean-Pierre."

Hmm. Jean-Pierre is coloured and Haitian by descent. Could that characterisation be just a tad racist? Asking for a friend.

Is there a version of the 25th Amendment for Congress members? MTG is either:

- knowingly lying despite the harm it's doing, including TO HER OWN CONSTITUANTS, or

- saying unhinged shit she honestly believes.

In neither case should she be anywhere near the levers of power.
