Just added an update pointing out that the IRA tax incentives weren't designed or directed to go to red states; the incentives were agnostic on location, but companies building factories tended to site in red states because of lower ("right to work" with no rights) labor costs and other factors.
There's a reason so many of the furrin car makers put their plants in the South. No expensive benefits packages to deal with, and whatever pay they do bestow is bound to be better than working at Super America.
.“We just met with more than a dozen key Republican offices, and I can tell you nobody wants to kill jobs. They don’t want to have to go back and face constituents and tell them that the factory I just cut the ribbon on might not be coming. That’s going to put them in a hard place.”'
Fuckin' excellent. They can sit in that hard place till they learn how to behave like adults.
<<That hasn’t actually resulted in any of the funds being restored, however, and that’s been leading to layoffs and furloughs and smaller contractors closing up shop, far beyond the clean energy and tech fields we’re talking about in our story here.>>
Wouldn't you know, the one time trickle-down actually worked—just not in the way anyone wanted it to.
Republicans are screwed too, they just don’t want to admit it yet, or are too shortsighted to see it. All the arbitrary, clumsy and cruel slashing of funding, programs, etc. is going to crush red states that absolutely depend on federal funds. Those reps phones are going to get hot, fast. Red state idiots love Trump’s anti-woke red meat bullshit, but Trump can only blame a retired former potus for so long. My guess is 6 months, certainly a year, and voters remorse is going to be very real.
Trump mostly burped out idiotic lies about Haitians eating innocent kittens, and the border being totally open to criminals all over the world flooding into suburban neighborhoods. He assured his voters he had no idea what Project 2025 was, and that he never heard of her. It was that unpopular, even for his base. He loves uneducated people, but many of those people rely on social welfare programs to afford education for their kids, healthcare and food. Now they are slowly catching on that Project 2025 is as much about relieving millionaires and billionaires from paying for those programs for Trump voters too, as it was about targeting minorities, gay and trans people. Writing cruel executive orders that take rights away from the dozen or so collegiate trans athletes is a splashy distraction that does nothing to improve lives. But eliminating the department of education and the trillions of dollars for public schools is the real goal. Wake up, MAGA. Trump will send you a $300 Trump voucher to cover the first week of private school. Or just get a night job and home school your three kids, you lazy bum. Trump has at least 5 kids, do you hear him complaining?
News that Musk is getting a no-bid $400 Million contract for Armored Tesla for the State Department raises a number a question, starting with Conflict of Interest, but also, does Telsa make a vehicle large enough ti be of use by the State Department. Most of those have been Suburbans or other *very large* SUV. And doesn't this contradict Trump's "drill, baby, drill, insistence of gas powered vehicles?
Thirsty podcasters can do that easily enough. Once they've got the info, they need to get it to the local Dems, because no MSM outlet is going to cover the story without massaging the R elected official's prostate.
Boots on the ground to get the word out and attack the R's is what we have.
"As The New York Times reports (gift link), that may come as a really unpleasant surprise to many in the red states that Trump relied on to win election, because now he’s decided to illegally block federal spending on anything related to clean energy, energy conservation, environmental protection, or people and geographic locations with the word “green” in their names."
Also not going to be a pleasant surprise if red state AGs turn out *not to know how* to sue to remove those blockades, even if they wanted to ... which they may not
What a mess stupid bigoted Republicans and passive White Democrats conflicted about relinquishing any part of their white privilege have gotten all of us into
This administration is a blitzkrieg of bumbled bullshit and bureaucratic buffoonery. Doublespeak and both lies and damned lies, top to bottom and front to back.
The cruelty is the point. The callousness is the point. The chaos is the point. The iron fisted control is the point. The targeted maligned "management" is the point. The organized payback and conflicted-interest firings and defundings are the point. The ultra-right anarchy is the point.
Would there be a Satan, a Great Deceiver, that bitch would be laughing its ass off at this farcical folly of these foul foes-marketed-as-heros.
Us little people don't have much howling power, even in aggregate, but I would HOPE that these Republican owned businesses have a shorter line to the ears of their representatives that THIS IS NOT COOL.
Well, to be fair, there are some 1970s and 80s unsolved NYC murders and certain line items on the Trump Organization business files from this era that should probably be looked at.

Wasn't some GOP goober recently mocking the idea of "electric tanks" and "electric fighter planes"?
No, it was Trump, actually.
Ta, Dok. Oh, FFS!!!
Don't say which ones? AOTK
>>Just don’t say who those Republicans are, please, OK?<<
All that needs to be done is to match up the plant closures to congressional districts! Easy peasy, lemon squeezy and Bob's your uncle!

"there's gonna have to be some pain..."....bend over Trump voters...daddies home,

It's the FOX News Hannity Agenda.

Did you see Rachel's report last night? I didn't even know there were large protests going on in West Virginia until I saw it on her broadcast.
Howl, nevertheless
Hey it's all part of the strategy to lower inflation, ya dummy!
People without jobs can't buy stuff, lowering demand and hence prices.
Genius ain't it!!!!!
There was severe deflation during the Hoover administration.
Jeenyus at wrok!
Once again, BIDEN stood in the way of TRUMP progress!
Since when has Trump honored a contract?!!!
Well, to be fair, there are some 1970s and 80s unsolved NYC murders and certain line items on the Trump Organization business files from this era that should probably be looked at.
There was that mysterious helicopter crash that killed three of Trump’s top casino executives.
Between this, and the shutting down of all the government agencies by FElon, how many jobs has Trump already tanked, instead of creating jobs?
AOT, K.
