At some point, and I hate to say this and give oxygen to the Comer/Jordan masterbation experiment, but Joe and Hunter may need to speak up and publicly shoot down all this nonsense. It won’t extinguish what the Rs are doing, as “destroy sitting potus” is their one, true directive, but it could blow up their whole narrative and get the media back on the only responsible topics of 2024 - how America must avoid the cataclysmic crisis that would be maga 2.0. Can the Dems in the House hold public hearings? Schedule a hearing for Joe and Hunter to describe their relationship, each making it clear Hunter was on his own to make the most of his privileged position, and surround the entire hearing in their mutual love and support, emphasizing the pain that addiction causes families all over America. Addiction is everywhere in America. Everyone wants to be happier or feel better or have less pain or stress. America can relate to Hunter on that topic. He can admit he tried to make the most of his opportunities as a person of privilege, and hopefully add that he did try to contribute more than just his name or proximity to his father. This is all ridiculous, as obviously Don Jr and Eric are only wealthy because they were assigned posts in Trump’s company. Neither of those two morons would be where they are without weapons-grade nepotism. It’s just getting beyond tiresome waiting for Joe Biden to tell Comer to fuck right off and give him directions.

From the number of sons & daughters of Republican electeds who get caught doing things like driving drunk, it seems that a lot of Republucan parents don't think if teaching responsibility or to manage money is part of a parent's job description. No wonder they don't recognize it when they see it.

And the Republicans wonder why we look down on them.

I watch the evil of the right use Hunter's problems in life as fodder for some kind of political gain and it makes my stomach churn. How can people be that hateful? They astound me with the cruelty.

This family, the Bidens, living life, loving a son who has serious problems, and also living to serve our Country, is a great inspiration to many who care about their kids. I know this next election comes down to how many hate and how many don't. I'm trying to be extra nice to everyone just in case it helps.

Amen, well put. Joe Biden hasn’t done anything to deserve this horrific treatment. He has endured tragedy after tragedy, losing a wife and child in one accident, then years later watching another son succumb to illness. Hunter is troubled, and a recovering addict. He made money off his privileged family relationships. Whoopie. That’s far more the rule with wealthy and powerful families than it is the exception. What the gop have done to Joe is shameful, and I hope he risks everything by speaking out, passionately, against them and soon.

So I lived at home while going to college and paid my share of the bills. My father would divide the electric, water, cable etc. and give me a slip of paper that showed my monthly share. I then cut him a check. According to the Repubs this is what crime families do. Can I plead the fifth?

Republicans plead the fifth. Democrats drink the fifth.

Just today we learned that Joe Biden might have known that his son planned to refuse Gym Jordan's subpoeana before his son committed to and announced that decision. Which, if true, woiuld be IMPEEECHHHH!!!!!

Well, the NYT keeps bending further and further over in an attempt to find kissing room at the ass of TFG PoopyPants the Stink Monster. All I can think of is that they're hedging their bets on democracy, and if it doesn't pan out, they can always quickly shift from "All the News That's Fit to Print" to "All the Propaganda We're Told to Print".

It sure seems that way. They know libs don’t marinade in revenge fantasy the way republicans, especially Trumpublicans do. So like any abusive relationship, they are hoping to placate the bully and curry enough favor to claim they were impartial, so they deserve to exist in the dystopia that would be A-maga-ca in 2025. If Dems win, they know we will roll our eyes and ignore their fealty.

Hunter appears to be a bit of a dick (this may be the result of previous injuries, beyond his control )Hunter has an addiction problem. Addiction problems, in my experience make people with dick like tendency more dickish. Hunter’s father at several points attempted to do things to make his sons less dickish and help them with their problems. These lessons appear to be more effective for his other son than Hunter.

I will therefore not be voting for Hunter Biden when he appears on my ballot.

If Hunter Biden were to run against any (R) in my area I would vote for Hunter. But he ain't running and it doesn't matter. They really need to give it up or finding something other than "Joe Biden is a good dad even when his son is A Dick" (or is it Has A Dick?)

I think that’s the bottom line for Dems to respond to this crap. “Hunter isn’t running for potus, but if he were, he’d be the better choice than PAB, a known criminal who tried to subvert democracy and condemned his minions to prison for their effort.”

I've mentioned here before the severe brain injury Hunter sustained in the accident that killed his Mom and sister. Modern neuroscience was arguably nothing compared to what we have today (I know b/c it took out MY Mom in the 80s,) so there is inconclusive evidence of how the injury affected his brain development going forward. He might be a jerk, too, but just saying

I started working for my family's business when I was 12. They put all the money I "earned" into an account that I did not have access to. If I wanted to buy something, I could tell them about it and maybe the would give me some money. When I was a senior in high school, I "quit" and got a job in retail so I could have some spending money. They were very unhappy about this and demanded I put the money I earned in the bank. I put in enough in to keep the peace. Eventually they succeeded in getting me to quit. It's a control thing. If Biden's a control freak, I'm OK with that. He's running to be president, not my dad.

One year for Christmas, my brother and I each got a steer. When those steers were sold, we got the money, put into bank accounts for each of us. I was going to do so much with that moolah when I got my hands on it.

Little did I know that Mom used it to buy our school uniforms (Catholic) and other sundries.

It's a cruel world. I guess it's best to learn that at an early age.

Ta, Gary. I try, really, to harbor no hatred in my heart. The current iteration of the GQP makes that REALLY fucking hard.

I tried to resist it, but I finally gave up.

For years, I found the reactions of fundamentalists to Satan ridiculous. Pure, abject terror toward the personification of evil. Then, I saw real evil, right in front of me every day in the real world, and it truly was terrifying in a way I could never imagine.

The opposite of love isn't hate, it's indifference. Hate is a separate emotion that, in the face of such evil, I can no longer find an unacceptable response.

Yes. One of my long-ago teachers taught us that the opposite of love and the opposite of hate are the same thing: apathy.

Repubs have been doing their opposition research on Joe Biden and Kamala Harris for decades, but all they got out of it was that Biden loves his son and Harris likes to cook. I'm looking forward to voting again for the Biden-Harris ticket.

For some reason they don't like the fact that the VP and her husband have a natural gas stove.

Expand full comment

It's because they've taken away everyone else's gast stove, but they get to keep theirs. They probably stole it from a white Christian family, because it's not like you can just walk into a store and buy one any more.

Is that in their personal home or in the historic, government housing provided to the VP? Because if it is in the provided housing, you could hear the GOP screaming from several states away about wasting tax dollars to renovate a perfectly good house. They will also probably yell even if it is their personal home.
