Here's Your Daily Reminder That Trump's Republicans Are Fucking Terrifying

Yay, time for another episode of "Let's ask a totally horrifying fascist question in a poll to see how far gone Trump's pigfucker loser base is!" Today's question comes from a new Ipsos poll, which asked Americans if they think it would be OK for Donald Trump to shut down media organizations that hurt his feelings and/or pierce his thin skin. And surprise! A full 43 percent of Cracker Barrel fascists, AKA Republicans, believe that is fine and dandy!

Guess Trump's constant demonization of the press is working, at least among certain "Americans."

All told, 43 percent of self-identified Republicans said that they believed "the president should have the authority to close news outlets engaged in bad behavior." Only 36 percent disagreed with that statement. When asked if Trump should close down specific outlets, including CNN, The Washington Post , and The New York Times , nearly a quarter of Republicans (23 percent) agreed and 49 percent disagreed.

A similar number of Republicans (48 percent) think the Failing New York Times and MSDNC and the Amazon Washington Post and Jim Acosta are the actual "enemy of the people," and so do 12 percent of Democrats so ... um, both sides do it, we guess! (Who the fuck are you 12 percent of Democrats, and do you need to talk to the guidance counselor?)

The good news in this poll comes when you realize that the phrases "self-identified Republicans" and "people who look at Donald Trump and become aroused in the electoral way" are shrinking demographics. Fully 85 percent of Americans still think we should have a free press, at least in theory . As for those 48 percent of Republicans who say Jake Tapper is the enemy of the American people? That's actually only 29 percent of the country. And the 23 percent of Republicans who think Trump should be able to personally shut down CNN for the crime of being "very, very disgusting"? That's a whole 13 percent of the American people.

So basically, we are dealing with Trump's original base minus those who have snapped out of it, and minus those who have perished either due to old age or completely shocking fireworks accidents nobody coulda saw coming.

(Although, weirdly 72 percent of Americans think it should be easier to sue the fake news reporters for actively lying or saying fake news. Good thing that's not actually what the press does, otherwise, we'd be in trouble, right????)

Oh, there is more good news! Fully 88 percent of Republicans and 90 percent of Democrats are still OK with the Weather Channel! So we guess our partisan divide hasn't quite spread to Republicans literally believing the Deep State is pissing on their legs when the nice meteorologists are simply confirming what they can see by looking out their windows, which is that it's totally raining.

This morning, we are waking up to news that in Ohio's 12th district, a solidly red (and completely fucking gerrymandered) district, the special congressional race is too close to call, because Democrats are fired up and turning out in massive numbers. And if current projections and trends hold, we will most likely handily take the House in November, and maybe even the Senate. Hell, things are looking really good for the Senate race in TENNESSEE for God's sake, and Beto O'Rourke might even mail Ted Cruz's stupid face back to Canada where it came from.

This is good, and it needs to continue, because God help America if we don't take back control from the un-American shithole Trump supporters we've been talking about in this post.
