Not caring what a T candidate for Senate confirmation says ought to be the basic requirement for any slightly intelligent individual. Learning from the liar in chief, they all mumble and wander around the questions and eventually pretend to say what people want to hear and then go forth and do what they have been saying they will do for years. Perhaps if the votes in the Senate were secret, we might get a bit more bravery, but a doubt it. By the way, if you think the Republicans care about American's health, you have been watching too many TV game shows.
I just can't wrap my head around the fact that this batshit crazy asshole was confirmed. Of all Trump's clown car he is arguably the worst. Some day I hope this comes back to haunt all those Republicans who just sat there and said yes to this obviously totally unqualified fraud who is undoubtedly going to pile up lot of corpses during his reign.
I grew up in an Indiana city of forty thousand during polio's peak years, 1948-1955 ,,, and I do not remember a single polio case. I presume as soon as they were diagnosed they were hustled out of sight, like girls who "got in trouble."
I think maybe polio treqatment was a bit like the tuberculosis treatments of the day. Patients were sent to specialized hospitals mostly because of logistics, and partly because isolation seemed the safest thing for diseases whose transmission was poorly understood. And partly due to a very nebulous kind of shame or fear.
A friend tells stories of her childhood in upstate New York in the 1940-50s. When she was a toddler, her mother was sent to a nearby Tuberculosis Sanatorium. Every Sunday, she and her older sister were taken to see their mother. They weren't allowed contact, so the kids would stand out on the lawn and shout up to their mother seated at the window of her third floor room.
This went on for my friend's entire childhood. It's just heartbreaking.
Look, if RFK Jr legalizes heroin, regulates it for tax revenue, and somehow makes it moderately safe, I’ll take it. Because reality isn’t doing it for me anymore. At least we can all float on a cloud of dopamine awhile while Trump destroys the world. This is a tough time to be a recovering addict. Or any other non-addict with any sense of decency.
Bobby Brainworm Kennedy - his youthful tan, which says 'healing' and 'wellness' - is that from exposure to the tropical sun in a glamorous beach resort in the Caribean, a regimen of up-to-the-minute tanning booths, or medically approved skin 'treatments' much like the President uses?
With the exception of some holistic practitioners or physiotherapists, most people I've met who believe in medicine "outside the mainstream" are playing with fire. I quit my small gym after the owner refused to get vaccinated (she survived a traumatic injury earlier in life and had turned her back on mainstream medicine), I don't believe that colonics or (always weirdly expensive) supplements will improve memory/gut health/diabetes/whatever, and am alive today because of 20th and 21sr-century medical discoveries and advances. Having all these nutjobs pronouncing on public health is a disaster waiting to happen. I can only hope some virulent disease sweeps through to the Oval Office...
Well, Ms Smarty, I suppose we oppose psychic surgery too,, is that it?
.
Although psychic surgery varies by region and practitioner, it usually follows some common lines. Without the use of a surgical instrument, a practitioner will press the tips of their fingers against the patient's skin in the area to be treated. The practitioner's hands appear to penetrate into the patient's body painlessly and blood seems to flow. The practitioner will then show organic matter or foreign objects apparently removed from the patient's body, clean the area, and then end the procedure with the patient's skin showing no wounds or scars.
Like most Trump picks, if his last horror show administration is anything to go by, his rank incompetence suggests he’ll last a handful of Scaramuccis at best. Otherwise we are stuck listening to that voice for 4 years and that I CANNOT abide.
"“I think we’re going to see a deterioration of just the influence of corporations on policy decisions and a return to better science,” said Jeff Hutt,..."
A return to better science, Jeff? And what science is that? Is that when doctors used horoscopes to diagnose and treat their patients? Or blood letting until the patient is seriously woozy? Oh I know, a return to women being accused of hysteria while their womb wanders all over their body. After all women are just incubators and it is not at all important to know how any of that icky stuff works, right?
Confirming RFK Jr. is some straight-up Idiocracy bullshit. That moron has absolutely NO RIGHT to be dictating health policy in this country. We are so, so fucked.
One vaccine and one mask and 40 percent of Americans lost their fricking minds. And now they’re broken forever. It’s pathetic that anyone ever had to argue with someone to put on a small piece of cloth for a few months.
And as much of a Tim Walz fan as I am, I hated the "be good w masking & soon they won't be required any longer" messaging.
I'm more of a 'look, fuckwits, you all have someone in your family tree who sickened or died from a (now) preventable disease, so grow TF up & thank about someone other than yourself' type of gal.

Or Liver disease?
HATER!
Is there any reason now to NOT ask Shirley MacLaine to head up the CDC?
<checks notes> no, no there isnt.
thank you for your support
It's the least I can do for our little community.
I wonder what Mitch thinks of the monster he created.
I hope he lives out the remainder of what is left of his life in regret and IBS.
fuck that guy.
The progress (?!) of the Texas measles outbreak will be instructive.
I wonder what quack cures Bobby Brainworm will distribute to Texas dimwits.
I like to think he will just ignore it until his peace of mind is restored naturally and completely
Best we can hope for.

Sounds legit. Pays better than card tricks, at any rate.
You should see the photo in Wikipedia. Too much for Wonkette I think
Wow, thanks, I give a little money to Wikipedia every year for that kind of information.

Ta, Dok. The Tesla and Apple iron lungs are really cute. Polio, measles, new strains of influenza, not so much.

Just noticed the Tesla one looks a heck of a lot like a steam iron. Hmm.
You beat me to it.

And what has he ever done for Trump that he should be rewarded? Old Orange must be running out of willing ass kissers.

it is children who will suffer as a result

And the two time election of a Black man also broke their brains.
