Hey, you filthy fuckaducks, I know it's an emotional day, but the goddamn comments policy remains in effect, and if you can't post without attacking other readers I will close the comments without a look back.
"This is why I’m always terrible at those trolley problem dilemmas. I just want the trolley to be broken down in the shop that day so nobody is on the rails or in the trolley. I want nobody to suffer. I’d be an awful politician."
IMO the only "moral" answer to the Trolley Problem is to walk away or throw your own body in front of the Trolley to stop it.
Democrats chose the latter in Feinstein's case throwing her body into the Trolley which was running over Dem Judicial appointments.
Senator Feinstein deserves all the respect and credit for her fine, distinguished service and career. She served with dignity and passion but also with purpose, a vital quality we are steadily moving away from in the era of the sound bite and tweet. It’s all culture wars today, and mindless rhetoric about the second amendment and how it’s a blanket ban on any suggestion of gun control. In many ways the work she did so tirelessly is more difficult today, as unserious people like mtg get elected and simply interfere. The discussion of her working too long after serious questions about her ability to continue is valid. She deserved every chance to keep working as long as she was willing and able, and she got that. We need more serious, capable and decent people like her.
"Feinstein, among the first witnesses on the scene, found Milk’s body." and held his bloody body as he died, in 1977, when gay men were widely considered, well we do not have to go there now.
Thank you for this.
And stop hosting that vile sexist Loomis. My god, what is wrong with him. Note he is not a commenter and I am not linking to his filth post.
Since before I was born, DiFi was a staple of the US Senate. And since I first started paying attention, she was always a thorn in the side of legitimate progress, when representing not just America, but the WORLD as a beacon of forward-thinking idealism - the great state of California. She was always there, a small but significant anchor (like Lieberman, Carper, Zell Miller, Mark Pryor, Ben Nelson) to halt hard-charging liberal progress from achieving maximum success (unlike, say, her colleague, longtime Sen. Barbara Boxer). My most significant memory of her may be giving the serpentine Lindsey Graham a hug at that disgraceful sham of a hearing for Amy Coney Barrett.
As a furriner, I knew little of Sen. Feinstein's many impressive accomplishments before today. However, her deterioration over the last couple of years struck very close to home. You see, my father is 90, and slowly dying in a nursing home. I've been watching his physical and mental condition deteriorate over the last couple of years too. My condolences to her family and all who knew her
I always wonder if people are fair judges of their own fitness to continue in their life's work. Senator Feinstein devoted her life to public service, and for the overwhelming majority of that time she was a warrior for good. If there's an afterlife I hope her election prospects are assured

Fair enough, but if we forgo shirts and shoes...?
Do it, because obviously many aren't even letting her body get cold before shitting on her
They should just go over to Lawyers Guns And Money and comment there. Erik Loomis's take is brutal.
I usually like that site.
Yeah, it’s good, I’m there all the time. Just sometimes Erik Loomis makes me so darn angry.
And still he gets invited here.
The Fuck.
Loomis is a gigantic shithead who delights in trolling his own readers. Maybe Editrix could have someone else guest post here on labor history.
After reading that one article, I have zero desire to read anything from him again.
Just read it, and that's a lot of breathtaking malice. Just reminds me why I'm no fan of that part of the political spectrum

RIP Dianne Feinstein

"No details on the circumstances or cause of death yet; those will come in time."
my money is on bungee-jumping accident.
Real shame her handlers decided it would be better to literally work her to death than let her retire.

Thank you, Doc.

And now she has passed away. That is all.
Did you know that it is possible to delete posts? You do not have to be malignant. Being vile does not make you strong or wise.
Women are emotional. Everyone had best be happy that we are.

She was a trailblazer, and I wish her friends, family, and close colleagues sincere condolences. May her memory always be a blessing.

I want to go back in time and slap Ted Goddam Cruz' smug , smarmy face.
Here's the key to Obama's Time Machine....
I think it's okay to do that in the present also too.
Don't compare Sen Feinstein to the Almighty, either. Even in her last months, she was doing her best and for many years her best was pretty damn good.
May her family & friends have more sweet than bitter in their memories of her.
“The evil that men do lives after them; The good is oft interred with their bones “
Thanks, fine lady, for your service over many years. Rest and hope that the rest of us keep the courage to carry on your work.
