So the free state of Florida has more laws & regulations AGIANST personal liberties and the like. Go figure. I do have to give them credit though - they are real good in sucking in their citizens in believing the crap they do is in their best interest. The state disallows local governing and wants to micromanage everything. Rename their legislature to the Florida Duma why not.

"SB 1134 doesn’t specifically ban Pride events..." but presumably, it would impact even things like police protection, or even traffic control during not just Pride events, but any "ethnic" or cultural group event.

God, what assholes. You'd think Republicans had serious intellectual, empathetic, and er. OTHER shortcomings, since this law is the equivalent of toddlers yelling, "Don't wanna! Can't make me!" about shit they don't even understand and that in no way affects their existence.

With oil prices as high as they are, one could easily justify solar and wind power as the cheapest choices!

If you can't mention sex, does that mean you can't tell transgender people which bathroom to use? You can't talk about "men" and "women" without mentioning their sex.

So, the Florida Legislature wants to contribute to global warming, which will result in more flooding, loss of land to rising ocean levels, and increasingly bad hurricanes in Florida.

The word "WIN" comes to mind.

While Idaho does punch above its weight as Dok well knows, they haven't plumbed the depths of christofascism as have Texas and Florida. Those states more closely resemble Iran than they do America.

That fuel thing is so vague people ought to be able to sue the Florida state government because it bought fuel vehicles

If this makes you wonder about the character of Florida Republican legislators, one only has to look at Randy Fine, who up until he was elected to the USA House, served in the Florida legislature ( both as a Representative and a Senator ). And he was only one of the many stupid, corrupt, and bigoted people that run for and get elected to the legislature in Florida.

I don't understand how even the most gormless Republican voter does not take a look at these fucking corrupt fuckers and go...ya know...these guys ain't working for me.

Is sticking it to those know it all libs THAT important for them?

I think a large part of their motivation is to pander to all the assholes right wingers out there in the Florida electorate - or at least what they think those deplorables like.

And the deplorables don't have time to worry about a little corruption among friends - they just blame on Democrats, one way of another.

And how is this NOT a blatant violation of the First Amendment? This law needs to be struck down in court RIGHT FUCKING NOW.

Use this bullshit against them and hire only minorities and LGBTQ...they can't sue if there are no more "protected" statuses, "white" can't be a "protected" statues either...just say they're the best people for the jobs...

Wondering Woman's avatar

And I'm sure there are plenty of silly people running around in the gator-infested part of the state who would make excellent representatives for the fine folks in Palm Beach...

fair_n_hite_451's avatar

a creative city drone will almost certainly try and use that "no climate shit" law to justify electric vehicle purchases. "I can't buy gas-powered lawnmowers, because that would be in violation of the 'based solely on the types or sources of fuel used by' clause".

JunkYardDogg's avatar

Now write the same legislation, only substitute religion ( &/or Christian) with DEI , etc

All these laws are suppression of the First Amendment
